Description

Guests at Daubeneys Shippon can relax in the living room next to the wood burner whilst looking out across the garden!

These attractive holiday properties lie in the peaceful conservation village of Colerne, surrounded by rolling countryside. The Grade II* listed stable conversion (PFFH) is part of the only longhouse in Wiltshire and dating back to the 13th century, is the oldest house in the village. Beautifully refurbished to offer all modern conveniences, yet retains charm and character. Sympathetically converted, the detached, single-storey barn (PHHF) offers light and airy, contemporary accommodation. Colerne has a good selection of shops and pubs but only a short bus journey, 7 miles, will take you into Bath and Chippenham. Within easy reach of Bristol, Bradford-on-Avon and the much-filmed villages of Lacock and Castle Combe. Great area for walking. Shop 200 yards, family pub and restaurant 10 yards.

Living/dining room with vaulted ceiling, wood-burning stove and patio doors leading to own garden. Well-equipped kitchen area. Double bedroom with patio doors leading to another garden. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Wooden floor and beams throughout.

This cottage was in a lovely village with some stunning views, it was very suitable for two adults and young children. There was no wardrobe space, only for one person. The kettle was broken but did give another used kettle, the fridge was a worry as we were there for a week and it kept defrosting and refeezing, it leaked water all over the floor, we did inform the owner. I The WiFi was very infrequent, owner did try to sort it but it was mostly off.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We have both families and 4 adults staying and there has never been a complaint about the rooms. Bedroom one has a large chest of drawers and a wardrobe. The second bedroom has a large chest of drawers. A wardrobe would not fit in this room as one wall is glass looking over the garden and it has its own door to the outside. The wardrobe is adequate for sharing and there are hooks on the back of both bedroom doors. The kettle was working as I had descaled it on the day of arrival. However, as soon as the guests told me it was broken it was replaced within two hours. They had problems with the fridge (especially with the recent hot weather) because it had been been turned up which made it freeze then turned down which then made it leak when partially defrosted. We now ask guests not to change the temperature and since then it has been in good working order. These guests told us the WiFi was not working so we sorted it out, apparently it again went down. However, it was not until a couple of days later when I asked if everything was ok that the guests told me it was not working again. It was then fixed and we heard nothing from them. We did explain that by using their own WiFi extender it would interfere with the setup which is in place and works reliably.

Had a very pleasant stay shame about the weather. Owner could not have been more helpful. Had to stay extra 2 nights as we were snowed in.
