Cei Newydd is one of three beautiful properties within walking distance of the Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast, the first to be established in Britain, which recognises the unspoilt nature of the coastline and its wildlife. An absolutely delightful holiday property, Cei Newydd is a lovely self-catering holiday cottage, which has been completely renovated from top to toe and is set in the pretty hamlet of Nanternis, near New Quay. The lime-washed stone walls and pale blue touches of the cottage echo the nearby sea. The cottage itself benefits from the same colour scheme and has a sociable, open plan layout with the sitting area to one end with a cosy wood burner for chilly nights and comfy leather sofas. The well-equipped kitchen is especially lovely, with doors leading out to a decked area and beyond to a patio and enclosed lawn where you can enjoy the warm sunshine and light the BBQ provided. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with carefully chosen bed linen. The property is all on ground floor level and is wheelchair accessible.

Step outside and choose from one of the many lanes and footpaths to explore, some take you along the unspoilt Ceredigion Coast Path and others through ancient woodland. Or make your way to the secluded National Trust cove of Cwmtydu, one mile, renowned for smugglers and pirates, the legendary Sion Cwilt was one such smuggler who used this bay in the 18th Century. The beach itself is pebbly and seal pups can often be seen here during the autumn months. Cwmtydu is nestled into the coastline, with paths offering excellent walking opportunities and connecting all the local beaches. For those who would prefer, the Cardi Bach bus service is a special summer only service, which takes travellers from Cardigan to New Quay and back twice a day between June and October. It links all the beaches in between and can transport two bikes.

Nearby Llangrannog boasts a picturesque beach, two pubs, two cafés and chip shop, all enjoying fabulous sea views. Why not taste homemade ice cream at the cafe, there are 25 flavours to choose from! Follow the cliff path to the pretty harbour town of New Quay, four miles, watching out for dolphins, seals, peregrine and choughs en-route, all the while relishing in the spectacular unspoilt scenery. New Quay is a firm favourite for dolphin spotters, with several operators offering wildlife boat trips, along with a centre offering water sports training. Why not wine and dine at one of the pubs or restaurants, many specialising in seafood. Fans of the Welsh poet can follow the Dylan Thomas Trail around New Quay and other areas connected to the famous poet.

A journey of just 10 miles northwards takes you to the Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, where you can wander through interesting streets of multi-coloured houses and along its pretty quay side.
With so much to do in the close vicinity, Cei Newydd is the ideal self-catering property to come back to after an eventful day, every detail has been thought of by the owners, who look forward to welcoming you to their little piece of Wales.

Cei Newydd can be booked together with Mwnt (CC621011) and Llangrannog (UK6005) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

Whilst the accommodation was rated as 5* it really needs inspecting again as it fell far short of that rating. Although most of the fittings were of good quality, they had been neglected. Disabled shower seat in twin room rusty and stained, faulty shower hose and head over bath. The double room was reasonably good, but yet again the shower cubicle black mould in the grouting and brown gunge on the bottom of the shower doors' It looked like it hadn't been cleaned all season, the basin had a stick plug which was difficult to open and close. In the kitchen the washing machine cupboard door wouldn't close along with some other cupboard doors (not properly fitted). The TV controls were worse than useless, very difficult to change channels, in general the sitting area was comfortable. The owners did leave excellent welcome gifts, wine, cheese, bread and milk, but in honesty I would have preferred them to spend that money on employing a reliable cleaner.

Perfect cottage for anyone in a wheelchair, as the owners have thought of everything. The welcome pack was fabulous and much appreciated on arrival. Would recommend as somewhere to stay.
