Description

There is plenty to explore from this cottage, with saltmarshes, beaches, coastal areas and countryside nearby.

A short walk from saltmarshes, beaches, creeks and sea, and an excellent area for exploring, walking, birdwatching, sailing, observing seal colonies or simply relaxing. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and adjoining England’s largest coastal nature reserve, these two attractive beamed holiday cottages stand in the pretty conservation village of Stiffkey, near Blakeney. Comfortably furnished and well-equipped they are set within a half-acre, south-facing natural garden with fruit trees and beautiful views across rolling countryside. We were very pleased with the cottage. Lovely and cosy felt very comfortable on arrival. No need to worry about noise from the road as quiet between 11pm and 7am. Tea and biscuits nice touch on arrival and hand soaps and shower gels provided.

The cottage was ideal for our use, owners very nice and helpful despite a broken oven by prior occupants. Cottage needs some refresh but minor.

This is the second time our group of friends has stayed at Blacksmiths Cottage. Cosy, but plenty of room for us all. 2 bathrooms are a big plus! Some minor irritations with kitchen equipment, and these days it would be good to have wifi cost included as standard. But overall, great.

We did enjoy staying here, really liked the cottage. It was conveniently situated in a village with a good shop and a pub with good food. we loved the fact that we could just walk to the coastal path, and then to either Morston Quay, where we went on a seal watching trip, or to Wells. It did turn cold during our stay, so we would have appreciated a higher TOG duvet, and it took us some time to work out the central heating. Our main dislike was the parking on a blind corner.

We had a lovely stay at Blacksmith Cottage. The house was very clean and organised. It was perfectly located for local walks; we had a lovely lunch in the local pub and it housed six of us very comfortably. It was excellent value for money and Beatrice was extremely helpful prior to our arrival to make us feel welcome and give us relevant information about the cottage and the area.

Our group of 6 adults fitted perfectly into the cottage which is very comfortable and well equipped. It is a good place to return to after a day's walking and exploring the north Norfolk coast. The local shop is a bonus and only a couple of minutes walk. The pub is handy and fine for an evening meal. We particularly enjoyed the Maritime museum at Stiffkey, the talk from the guides there was a highlight, as was the Sunday afternoon guided tour of Binham Abbey.

Next to a very busy A road that was frequently jammed with cars right outside the garden, also sometimes almost impossible to walk down the street due the numbers of cars and no pavements on either side of the road, and no room for pedestrians! Would definitely look for somewhere away from the road in future if I were to return. I think the photos are a bit deceptive - we booked it thinking it would have a nice garden for the kids to play in, but it wasn't like that. It was like staying next to a motorway.
