A romantic retreat for two surrounded by forest and farmland and set in the peaceful Machno Valley.

Benar Bach, which in English means: Little Benar, is a Grade II* listed cottage and was built as an annexe to the delightful 16th century farmhouse. The cottage is beautifully secluded and has a lovely private outside terrace and lawn, adjacent to a babbling stream with plenty of wildlife. Set in the peaceful Machno Valley between Penmachno and Betws-y-Coed, it provides a romantic retreat for two people. There are walks straight from the door, with the Gwydyr Forest just waiting to be explored. The cottage has direct off-road access to the Penmachno Mountain Bike Trails with the Marin Bike Trail also nearby. The pretty village of Betws-y-Coed, the Gateway to Snowdonia, is 3 miles away and has individual shops and a range of cafés, hotels and eateries, together with the treetop nets at Zip World Fforest – not for the faint hearted! Horse riding nearby. There is also a village pub within walking distance in Penmachno, plus the tiny National Trust property of Ty Mawr Wybrnant is well worth a visit. Beach 20 miles. Shop 3 miles and pub 1 mile.

Well-equipped kitchen with tiled floor. Five steps to first floor: Beamed living/dining room with electric woodburner, wooden floor and patio door to garden terrace. Wooden, turning stairs to second floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed, TV and en-suite bathroom with roll-top bath, shower cubicle and toilet (level entrance to second floor).

A gorgeous cottage set in an utterly beautiful location. The cottage was beautifully decorated, and everything had been thought of. We were made to feel so welcome, we’re definitely going back. So close to many local attractions (we visited 3 Christmas events in 4 days!) but you feel like you’re totally away from it all.

The cottage was lovely, really cosy and we would definitely stay there again when visiting this part of Wales. Lovely hosts and scenery.

Lovely private property to the rear of the owners' own home. There is a place to sit out above the property to enjoy the views across the valley and there is a lovely patio area directly from the lounge where we ate a number of our meals. The property itself is over 3 floors and was very clean and well equipped. Of course you are in the heart of the National Park so lots to do and see. Bodnant Gardens is not far and well worth a visit. We had a lovely holiday and Paul and Daniel were able to advise us about local attractions and the pub opening times! Thank you Daniel we are still enjoying your lovely homemade marmalade!

We spent a lovely week here! The cottage is cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. We visited lots of new places and went on some local walks. The welcome drinks and home made biscuits were lovely - as were the toiletries. We will be booking again for a return visit!

Fabulous. The best place to start tours in North Wales. Very helpful landlords. Peace and rest. We will go again!
