Holiday cottages in England need little introduction. Why not enjoy a little stroll before breakfast to take in the peace of the Quernmore Valley and witness spectacular sunrises over Clougha Pike, equally pretty in the evening, the sun setting over Morecambe Bay and Black Coombe mountain is worth coming a long way to see, and as for the magnificent sunsets and views of the Lake District, they put to shame the very best postcards.
    The Hay Barn is located on Langthwaite Farm which is a working sheep and lamb farm near the Lancashire village of Quernmore. It is ideally located to explore the Yorkshire Dales, Blackpool and the Fylde coast, the Forest of Bowland (AONB) and the Lake District. Whilst the farm enjoys a peaceful rural location, it is only 3 miles to the M6 so it makes the ideal touring base.
    Situated along the meandering River Lune, the historic city of Lancaster with its wealth of shops, restaurants, theatres, pubs, churches, takeaways and sports and leisure facilities is just 1 mile away. Why not visit John O’Gaunts Gate at Lancaster Castle, the Priory, Lancaster Cathedral, the judges’ lodgings, or the maritime museum on the Old Slave Trade Quayside?
    At Sunderland Point read the poem on Sambo’s Grave and wander to the little picturesque St Peter’s Church at Heysham. Visit cosy little Glasson Dock and the traditional market towns of Bentham, Garstang and Kirkby Lonsdale.
    Other places of interest within easy driving distance include Blackpool, Fleetwood, Kendal and the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales National Park, Forest of Bowland (AONB), Brontë Country, Hawes, Wensleydale cheese factory and Ingleton with its caves and waterfalls, or take a ride on the Carlisle to Settle railway.
    Ideal for those who love the outdoors, there are lots of lovely local walks along country lanes as well as by the coast, canal, rivers and hills. Other popular activities available locally include cycling, coarse and fly fishing, boating, horse riding, golf, pony trekking, potholing and caving. Nature lovers and bird watchers will enjoy a visit to Leighton Moss RSPB Centre, or Gaitbarrows Nature Reserve. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
