This quaint, detached cottage is the perfect retreat for couples, and is located just on the outskirts of Bishop’s Stortford. Adjacent to the owner’s home, it boasts a contemporary, stylish design with the charm of a holiday let, and is in the perfect location for exploring this delightful area. Within this fully insulated, eco-friendly home, PV panels provide hot water as well as the electric heating and electricity to use, and the gift toiletries provided are eco-friendly, too. Enjoy the large lawned garden and private decking area, where you can sit out in the evening with a glass of wine and plan the next day’s adventure. On the first floor, the double bedroom is well-managed, with built in wardrobes and a TV; there is also a galleried style comfortable sitting area with sofas and a dining table. On the ground floor, there’s a well-equipped, contemporary kitchen with views over the garden. Bike storage is available, and you are welcome to bring along your family friend, since this is a great location for dogs with many local walks and trails. These include The Hertfordshire Way, for which literature is available at the cottage, as well as some related artwork on display.
The town of Bishop’s Stortford took its origin from the ford over the river, which is now known as the River Stort. It offers an array of shops, bars and restaurants, and with Stansted Airport nearby, this cottage could be the perfect place to take a rest before your flight.
The property is situated a few miles from the Henry Moore Foundation in the quaint village of Perry Green, where you can take beautiful walks, eat a superb lunch in the local pub whilst enjoying the large scale sculpture work of the artist, and the museum where his drawings are displayed. Nearby towns include Stansted Mountfitchet and the beautiful market town of Saffron Walden, both of which are full of shops, restaurants, art stores and other entertainment. You can take a trip (or walk along the river) to the local village of Sawbridgeworth, which is full of boutiques and jewellery stores. Or visit Much Hadham with its small iron forge, streets full of Jacobean and Georgian houses, great pubs and stunning walks through the forest woodlands and fields, where lambing can be seen in spring.
There are several gyms, swimming pools, cinemas, parks and other facilities in the area, too. There is good access to London by train, where you can explore the famous capital city, with its many attractions including the London Eye, London Dungeons, Buckingham Palace and much more. Or visit Cambridge with its architecture, pubs, shops, restaurants and punting, which is also easily reached by train or car. From the property you can take an easy, direct stroll into the town centre or enjoy a scenic walk along the river. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
