An historic and beautiful village dating from the 17th century, Craven Arms is a delight waiting to be explored in the heart of rural Shropshire, on the edge of the Welsh Marches.

This quiet, peaceful area is nestled among the Shropshire hills providing a wealth of walking opportunities including the Shropshire Way, and yet easily accessible with the A49 running close by. Or for those who are looking for some adventure, paragliding, quad biking and hot air ballooning are available locally.

Craven Arms is also a wonderful base for those who want to explore this beautiful area. Visit the 13th century medieval castle at Stokesay (more accurately a fortified manor house), which is highly regarded by many as one of the best preserved and most beautiful in England, or immerse yourself in local history at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre; here you’ll find plenty of ideas for days out in the area.

Food Festivals can often be found just down the road at Ludlow is a foodies paradise and the Spring Festival is described as ‘Like a beer festival, but better’, so certainly worth a visit! Shropshire boasts many Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Trust properties, as well as the Glider Centre on the delightful Long Mynd. Ludlow, famous for its ‘Michelin-star’ eating houses, quaint cobbled streets and medieval castle, hosts the Ludlow Festival in June and July, and also provides a leisure centre - great for entertaining children. Further places of interest include Bridgnorth, Ironbridge, Blists Hill and the Wenlock Edge. Much Wenlock offers a 12th-century priory and antique market. Younger children can enjoy an indoor play barn just outside Craven Arms or Acton Scott Working Farm Museum. Further afield are Offa’s Dyke, Hay-on-Wye and the Welsh Black Mountains.
