Find cottages in Broadstairs

Glorious sandy beaches, bracing cliff-top walks and a delightful Victorian centre await visitors to the town of Broadstairs on the north east coast of Kent.

Along with Margate and Ramsgate, Broadstairs is one of the three seaside resorts which make up the district of Thanet. Indeed, Broadstairs is known as the ‘Jewel in Thanet’s Crown’. The town itself has a blend of Victorian architecture, traditional fishermen’s cottages and a promenade that is a riot of colour during the summer months due to the beautifully maintained flower beds.

The great Victorian novelist Charles Dickens was a huge fan of Broadstairs and paid many visits to the town. His place of residence here was Fort House, now known as Bleak House. Guided tours of the house can be taken which include a visit to Dickens’ study and a Smugglers Museum. The Dickens House Museum in Victoria Parade houses a collection of Dickensian memorabilia, in addition to many items which belonged to the great man himself.

Broadstairs is very much a family resort and the award-winning beaches here make it a popular destination during the summer months. The views available from the cliffs which line the coastline are truly memorable and it is possible to take in this scenic vista while walking into the neighbouring resorts of Margate and Ramsgate, which are just four and two miles away respectively. With three seaside towns in such close proximity, there is never a shortage of things to do on this delightful stretch of the Kent coast.

For a traditional seaside holiday in a resort full of character and charm, search for cottages in Broadstairs today.
