Enjoy a relaxing countryside escape at Den Two, a stylish one-bedroom cabin in the peaceful village of Dunragit, near Stranraer. Designed and constructed by the owners with idea of luxury market especially for couples, this comfortable retreat is the perfect place to unwind, reconnect and explore the beautiful coastline and countryside of Dumfries and Galloway with your dog.
Step inside to discover a spacious open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area, thoughtfully arranged for an easy and relaxing stay. The kitchen provides everything needed to prepare breakfast, a picnic lunch or a romantic evening meal, while the dining area offers a pleasant setting in which to eat together.
After a busy day exploring, make yourself comfortable in the lounge and enjoy the gentle warmth of the underfloor heating. The built-in wood-effect fire creates a cosy atmosphere, making Den Two equally inviting during cooler evenings and winter breaks whilst watching the cows or sheep in the fields beyond.
Large patio doors lead from the living area into the courtyard, creating a lovely connection between the lodge and its rural surroundings. Sink into the private hot tub, relax beneath the open sky and admire the uninterrupted views across the neighbouring fields. Light the firepit as evening approaches and watch the changing colours of the countryside. Keep an eye on the rope suspended overhead, where the local red squirrels can sometimes be seen scampering between the trees.
There is plenty for couples and their four-legged companions to discover nearby. Castle Kennedy Gardens welcomes friendly dogs on leads and offers extensive walks among landscaped grounds, lochs, woodland and historic castle ruins. Alternatively, travel to Portpatrick, a picturesque harbour village with colourful houses, places to eat and wonderful coastal walks.
The beaches at Sandhead, Ardwell Bay and Killantringan Bay provide space for energetic walks, paddling and peaceful picnics. Dogs should remain under close control near livestock and wildlife, particularly during nesting season.
A scenic drive south leads to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point, where dramatic cliffs, sea views and abundant birdlife await. Stranraer is also nearby, with shops, cafés and enjoyable walks beside Loch Ryan. Keen gardeners can explore Glenwhan Gardens and its wildflower walk, accompanied by magnificent views over Luce Bay.
At the end of the day if you prefer to go out for dinner there are a number of good eateries and pubs not far from Den Two.
At the end of each adventure, return to Den Two for a soothing soak in the hot tub and a quiet evening beside the fire—a wonderful ending or beginning of your memorable getaways to the Den Two.
