A cottage with so much going for it, but a holiday experience spoiled by poor property maintenance and lack of attention to detail. On the positive side ... Warkworth is a charming village with so much to enjoy - the river, the beach, the castle, lovely little shops and some very nice restaurants. The cottage is well-appointed with everything you need for self-catering and is located just a few yards from the riverside. On the negative side ... the washing machine was broken (advised to us before we travelled and repaired eventually during our stay); the double bedroom window was un-openable (known about by the caretaker, but not advised to us in advance) which would have been very uncomfortable in normal circumstances, but which caused a major problem in the heatwave; the front door yale lock is dodgy to the point that we didn't dare use it; kettle on/off switch dodgy and several light bulbs not working; two mini jars of jam provided in the welcome basket had been opened and partially used. I reported the main issues to the agent during our stay which they dealt with efficiently and I received some compensation. I hope that they have since been resolved and that future guests will be able to enjoy their stay without having to waste precious holiday hours acting as a property manager!
