The self-contained Lodge is perfectly situated offering a quiet and comfortable stay. Internally, the lodge has two bedrooms, The first of the two bedrooms has a double bed including a flat screen TV and en suite with toilet. The second bedroom has a single bed along with plenty of storage space for your stay. The main bathroom with shower is a generous size with modern fixtures. The open plan modern kitchen/dining area has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Around the corner is the living area, spacious and airy with patio doors that open out onto the decking area. On the decking you will find lovely outdoor furniture, to relax and take in the area. Externally, there is vast amounts of rural space, with views of the Shropshire countryside. For most things you’ll need to go no further than Churchstoke Shopping Centre, just 2 miles along the road from Daisy Bank. Here you will find a good-sized CO-OP, butchers, Post Office, and Petrol Station. There is also a plant centre, M and Co, hairdresser, pound store and a café. Bishops Castle has some small but very good independent retailers. Bishops Castle is also home to two micro-Brewery’s in The Threes Tuns and The Six Bells. Fishing is available along the River Severn and its tributaries between Newtown and Welshpool. The Montgomery Canal is also popular and requires a club fishing permit. Clun is a pretty river crossing with remains of a Norman castle. Visit Craven Arms for Stokesay Castle, a fine medieval fortified house. Church Stretton, like Clun and Bishops Castle, is a centre for walking routes. Further afield, Ironbridge, tells of the industrial revolution through its magnificent River Severn bridge and museums. We previously had a touring caravan and have stayed on the Touring site at Daisy Bank several times over the last 12 years but due to my mobility issues we had to sell our caravan . Two years ago we returned to the site and stayed in the Windermere Lodge and were so impressed that we stayed in the lodge again last week. Although there are no pubs or shops within walking distance there is a well stocked Co-op 2 miles away in Churchstoke and Bishops Castle with a selection of shops and 5 pubs is 4 miles in the opposite direction. The lodge is extremely clean and comfortable with good quality linen and towels and a small welcome pack is provided. The friendly owners, Nikki and Mark, and their team work hard to keep the site immaculate and are always on hand should you have a problem or need advice. I have only scored the location as 9 because of the road noise which may be a problem for some visitors!
