Charming, cosy old cottage with superb views and a lovely patio. There were 4 adults staying so sitting room a little cramped when we tried to sit at the table to share a meal. Would recommend removal of the dresser and have the table placed there instead. Parking is poor too but property is well placed for all local amenities and there is so much to do in Whitby and good bus and train access too . Great value for money and we hope to return for another visit . Cottage very well equipped but no sharp knives for preparing food.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Sorry about the sharp knives, we have supplied them and not sure what has happened to them, but we will replace the. Also removing the dresser would not give any more room, but you are welcome to pull the table out to seat 4 people.

We have stayed here at least five times and love the cottage. However, it could benefit from some updating. The lounge is very cramped with unnecessary furniture, and the three piece suite is very old and uncomfortable.

Beautiful character cottage, tastefully decorated & well appointed. There are steep hills and/or steps to negotiate, on foot to access the town centre from the cottage, which was the only issue for my elderly parents, but we got around it by using our car or taxis.

This cottage is TINY. If 4 people were in it there wouldn't be room to move. The staircase is uneven and very difficult to negotiate especially because there is a chair which blocks the door at the bottom. There is nowhere to move the chair to. The shower shrieks when it is turned on. This can only be stopped by turning on the cold tap so the shower is never more than lukewarm. The walls and floors are extremely thin, all the floors creak loudly so if anyone moves around in the night or early morning, it is impossible to do so quietly. There is only one small wardrobe in one of the bedrooms which everyone has to share.

Response on behalf of the Agency; Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment; we welcome all feedback in order to continually improve our properties. I apologise White Cottage did not live up to your expectations; we have always had very positive reviews on the property. As per the property description, this is a traditional fishing cottage of the town and the character within the property reflects this. I hope this does not deter you from booking with us again.

Parking very difficult,no designated space. No shade or shelter on the terrace,we were told a parasol would be provided at the weekend ,after we had left. We had no choice but to buy our own.
