Description

A great location for a holiday, take the foot ferry to go exploring or discover the white sandy beaches at Sunna Bay.

Occupying a wonderful rural location, accessed via a drive, overlooking Loch Sunart, the island of Carna and the Morven Hills, this detached holiday home, designed and built by two young architects, offers an excellent base for touring the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Visit Ardnamurchan Point with its unmanned lighthouse and visitor centre, explore the white sandy beach of Sanna Bay, or call in at the Glenmore Natural History Centre. An abundance of wildlife can be spotted including whales, dolphins, otters and Golden Eagles. A foot ferry from nearby Salen runs to Tobermory on the island of Mull, or from Kilchoan there is a more regular car ferry. The Isles of Skye, Rum, Egg and Canna can be reached from the fishing port of Mallaig. A superb area for walking, fishing, biking and a variety of watersports. Good tearoom 4 miles. Shop and pub 5 miles, restaurant 7 miles.

A perfect Highland getaway to truly get away from it all. Lots of Wildlife and Walking. Mull very accesible from ferry at Kilchoan. Mailaig 40min drive away making Isle of Skye quite accesible. A Fantastic base for exploring in my opinion the most beautiful part of Scotland. This was our 3rd visit to West bothy and we have booked again for 2019.

Situated in a beautiful location overlooking Loch Sunart, we found West Bothy to be a perfect and peaceful holiday hideaway. The most thrilling aspect of our stay being, without doubt, the regular evening visits from a pine marten and badger! Another highlight was spotting a Golden Eagle hovering over the crags of Ben Laga behind the bothy. Although the exceptionally wet weather somewhat curtailed our outdoor activities this was more than compensated by the various wildlife encounters, the comfortable accommodation and wonderful scenic surroundings.

West Bothy was located exactly where we wanted it, off the beaten track. Ideal base for sea kayaking and walking. The area is a little remote thus local amenities are limited, Salen Hotel is 5mls away. The Bothy is well equipped and well furnished. The water supply is from a local stream and makes great tea. Rainfall shower is fantastic after a long day on the boat or walking. The complete lack of local light pollution makes for a full night sky if it stays clear. The local roads are single track with passing places, slower drive than usual but helps to set the pace for the area. Day trips to Sanna Bay, Scottish Caribbean beach but not the heat. The same road takes you Kilchoan and the ferry to Tobermory. You might see dolphins on the way over, fantastic day trip.

Secluded location in small settlement, comfy, excellent views out of french windows, wildlife comes to the garden. Its a drive to local amenities but we knew this when we booked and for us that was more than compensated for by the properties plus points.
