High in the Devon hills above the Taw/Torridge estuaries Webbery Manor Estate is an oasis of rural tranquillity. Steeped in history and with several noteworthy owners, Webbery Manor Estate was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It was given to Nicholas the Crossbowman, by a grateful William the Conqueror as a Saxon manor. In the 17th century it passed to the Lippincott family, one of whom set sail with the Mayflower flotilla to settle in America. In the 18th century, John Cutcliffe, the grandson of the owner, fought at the battle of Waterloo and was personally promoted by the Duke of Wellington.
Set in 30 acres of parkland and woods, with grazing sheep, deer, owls, pheasant, birds of prey and other wildlife. The delightful gardens have numerous specimen trees and banks of rhododendrons giving a spectacular spring display. While the organic walled kitchen gardens grow some more unusual varieties of vegetables to the UK. You will find Romanesco, Cavelo Nero, and Pink Fir Apple potatoes to name a few, all complimentary subject to season and availability.

Originally the estate threshing barn, now beautifully converted to a two-bedroomed detached cottage. The barn doors replaced with full height picture windows with views towards the Bristol Channel and Lundy Island. Beautifully decorated and furnished with antique and period pieces, solid oak floors, and hand-made curtains. Relax in the stylish, living room with Chinese carpet, and wood-burning stove on marble hearth. There are comfortable chairs to relax on and watch the flat screen TV, and doors leading to the garden with views towards Lundy Island. The large bespoke kitchen with double range cooker is ideal for family breakfasts and informal evening meals round the large farmhouse table. The double en-suite bedroom room has triple aspect windows, brass bedstead and crisp fresh linen. The peaceful twin en-suite bedroom has period furniture, wood floor and plush bed linen.
The lively market town of Bideford makes an excellent day out, with weekly market and working harbour. With so many pubs and restaurants to choose from, why not treat yourself to a meal out before heading home. Fishing and horse riding can be found within 5 miles. Shops and pubs 5 miles.

    The Webbery is a wonderful estate with several properties which are let out to visitors. The owners are exceptionally welcoming and we had a thoroughly restful and enjoyable time on this lovely site. Luppincott has two bedrooms, which sleep up to 4 people and we got such deep sleep, it has been extremely beneficial. Close to RHS Rosemoor and Marwood Hill gardens (both 15-20 minutes' drive) and only 30 mins ish from the magnificent Woolacombe Beach. There is no pub or shop within walking distance, but the Hunter's Inn at Newton Tracey is only a few minutes' drive away. We shall definitely be going again...
