Clean, spacious accommodation set right on Windermere lake side with stunning views and a private jetty.

Aptly named, Waterhead Studio is set right on the shore of, and with superb views across Lake Windermere. Apart from the small lake frontage, guests also benefit from a balcony, boat storage area and shared use of a jetty. On the southern outskirts of Ambleside, just ¼ mile from Waterhead, where you can take cruises down the lake. The visitor centre at Brockhole, with its 30 acres of award-winning gardens and grounds, is a great place for a trip to this beautiful area. Home to a series of trails, walks, events and activities, it also has an information centre where you can find out all about the local attractions. Close by are Hawkshead and Grasmere. Both villages are inextricably linked to the romantic poet William Wordsworth. Historians and Wordsworth fans alike will find a visit to either Dove Cottage or Rydal Mount an interesting diversion. Wordsworth is not the only literary connection here; both John Ruskin and Beatrix Potter also lived nearby, Ruskin at Brantwood on the shores of Coniston Water, and Beatrix Potter at Hill Top (NT) at Far Sawrey. There are many ways to explore this often frequented area and each visitor chooses his own path, by foot, mountain bike, car, boat or even horse. An ideal holiday base. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

Our 4 th visit to the Waterhead Studio and this visit didn't disappoint. Used the under house store for our canoes and had a lovely stay. Owner was extremely helpful when we had a slight issue. Will be back.

This is a property with a great location. However the owner just needs to invest a little in it. The double glaze seal on the bedroom window upstairs is allowing water inside and is so water stained it is difficult to see out of it which is such a shame as the view is amazing! Also lights & light bulbs & strip lighting which needed replacing. Apart from a few niggles it’s still a good holiday base in the Lake District.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. As explained previously, the double glazed unit is to be replaced but unfortunately due to the installer going bust and planning permission we have had to delay installation until end of season. With regards lighting, at all times there are spare bulbs and tubes available and if they did run out our caretakers are more than willing to help replace.

Amazing location but poor upkeep. I did email the owner but he chose not to respond to my feedback. You can’t see through the upstairs bedroom window and the shower screen seals are rotten. A little investment would make this a 10 out of 10 and the views from the living room are breathtaking.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The last time I was at the property March 2018 I could see out of the upstairs window and through to the fantastic views of the Langdales. Yes, the unit needs and was due to be replaced last October but due to problems has had to be delayed. We did not feel it was too bad to withdraw the property from 2018 bookings. Regards the shower seal, we have looked into both shower seals and both seem in good working order and this is the first complaint of its kind. We are sorry if these issues have affected your stay and as ever we encourage holidaymakers to raise any resolvable issues on arrival. Thank you for your comments.

A lovely cottage in a lovely location with a panoramic window offering a wonderful view of the lake. An ideal location for our family of six and our dog. Would love to stay there again.

Sixth time here - which sort of speaks for itself. This place is pretty hard to beat. We brought a little boat with an outboard motor so we were able to make full use of the jetty and the boat house underneath. Only disappointment this year was the cancellation of the free passes to the nearby leisure centre. But it's still a great place for a family holiday across the generations.

View was beautiful, but obscured upstairs because of the failed double glazed unit. This also let in sound so you could hear the traffic noise at night. Also it was quite bad driving off the drive onto the main road as traffic wouldn't give way & visibility was bad. The wifi was intermittent too. Great speed, when it worked, unfortunately not often enough. These were the only bad points. The view was fantastic from downstairs.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback, We had tried to replace the window early in the year but were unable to, it will be replaced in October, and you do have a valid point, however we do feel the front windows are nothing to do with the noise as it overlooks the lake and not the road and it may have been the Velux windows that were open. The property does go onto a main road, this is the first time anyone has raised this, we do find there isn’t that much traffic noise at night despite the main road. The Wi-Fi is usually fast and has not been mentioned before. If you had informed me of this, I could have contacted our internet provider to check.
