Local amenities scored as 10 because there are none which is part of the fun of the holiday, not even any WiFi.

Walnut Tree Cottage was truly beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The garden was exquisite, even for October, with many plants and nooks and crannies to explore. The cottage itself is very comfortable and cosy. Would love to stay again sometime!.

An unfortunate first impression. Apparently we weren't expected and the cottage was cold and smelled slightly damp. The advertised kindling etc for making a fire were also not provided so the first evening and night were cold and uncomfortable. Once the central heating had warmed the property the impression improved considerably. Many of the facilities and decor had frozen around the 1970s with formica work surfaces and avocado bathroom fittings, (rather nostalgic) but everything worked and everything we needed was provided. The garden was lovely. By the end of our stay we felt very much at home and would be very happy to revisit.

This is the second time we have stayed at Walnut Tree Cottage, in thirty years of holidaying in cottages this is only the second time we have returned to a cottage , it really is that good.
