We had a really wonderful stay at Walnut cottage. Not only did we have a very attentive host who talked us through all the cottage and village amenities, but we had been left a welcome pack with lots of goodies to see us through the weekend. The cottage is charming and the garden was beautiful. Kitchen is fully equipped and there is a lovely wood burner in the living room. A really cosy and comfortable stay, and I would certainly recommend this for a long weekend.

Although Walnut cottage was a very interesting property, the fact it was on quite a busy road and the garden was not actually accessible directly from the property was not made clear in the description. On the whole the cottage was comfortable and well equipped but the double bed was not that comfortable and would benefit from an upgrade. Welcome pack was a nice touch.

Response on behalf of the owner- Thank you Elaine for your comments, which we always take seriously. Walnut cottage is in the centre of village which has a high street and lower street which is access for the village and adjoining villages to get to Ipswich, obviously at work time the traffic would run through this B road. The cottage is at right angle to garden, the drive is at the front of the property and 3 metres from the front door is the attached gate to garden where the fence is attached top property. We have resisted putting a gate at the bottom of drive which would enclose the drive but not giving ease of access to property. The one surprising aspect for us as we recently refurbished 2 years ago with new beds upstairs, new dining table and settee imported from Italy. We have not previously had a comment similar to this , in fact in reverse of it. We will naturally check the comfort when next at the property. Once again many thanks for your comments.

My husband and I have had the most wonderful weekend in walnut cottage with our two year old daughter. The property was spotless and equipped far beyond what you would expect from a holiday let, the owner had clearly thought of everything! The garden was perfect and safe for our daughter to play in. Cannot recommend the property enough.

This cottage is on a main road and got very noisy, especially first thing in the morning. We were invaded with flying ants that took up residence between the lounge window and secondary glazing. Due to a badly cut key we got locked in on the first night and had to climb out a very small window to get out. Had there been a fire we would have been in trouble as there was no other means of exit. I phoned the owner that night and left a message and he contacted me the next morning and had someone come to sort the problem out. It appeared very clean on the surface but the carpets and soft furnishings smelled of dog and we were picking up dog hair frequently on our clothes. The carpets were filthy; my daughter's socks turned from white to black/brown within an hour of being there. This cottage was not at all child friendly with a large brick hearth, very little space, no bath, a broken latch to the garden gate and on a main road. There is one local shop within a short walking distance but this sold me out of date, opened, sour milk. A refund and apology were given when I took it back. There is a Morrisons supermarket within a 10 minute drive. There are a few good days out within a 20 minute drive (owl sanctuary, two farms, craft shops and garden centre) so no complaints about location. There was a pub at the top of the road that had very loud live music one afternoon. The relaxing afternoon in the garden didn't really happen due to this.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, the whole of the UK had problems with flying ants in June this year and we have been hit with them as you know. We have acted upon some of your comments – firstly, we have changed all of our locks to ensure we had no faulty keys. We have changed all of our windows and removed our secondary glazing and now have handmade double glazed windows which are also fire escapes from both the bedroom windows and the lounge windows. Our cottage is very much a Tudor cottage which does mean that you will have brick hearths as a main feature. We clean our carpets once a month on contract and sometimes when it is wet in the country, they can be soiled between the contractors visit. Our housekeeper is housed locally with a carpet cleaner. I was encouraged by one of our previous guests who commented how perfect the cottage was for her 2 year old daughter and in fact, the property was spotless and the garden was perfectly safe for her daughter to play in. The local village pub does occasionally have outside BBQ’s with a band which is normally very popular with our guests, especially with children (bouncy castles and free entry). I’m sorry this wasn’t to your taste. We thank you for your comments which have allowed us to upgrade further this beautiful home.
