This charming, detached holiday home surrounded by its own land enjoys stupendous views towards Morecambe Bay. Set in beautiful walking country near the Dales Way, the footpaths, bridleways and walled lanes provide walks directly from the house. Centrally placed for touring, with many historic buildings close at hand including Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall and Gardens, Holker Hall and Motor Museum, plus the 12th century priory at Cartmel. Lake Windermere, surrounded by exciting visitor attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Brockhole Visitor Centre, plus the towns of Bowness and Windermere are all within 20-30 minutes’ drive. The market town of Kendal, 6 miles, has a castle, leisure centre, riverside walks and excellent variety of shops and restaurants. The high fells of Central Lakeland and the beautiful lakes of Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwent Water can be reached in about 40 minutes for climbing and scrambling or simply to enjoy the magnificent scenery.

    I loved the cottage and the surrounding landscape. Whoever owns it and takes care of it clearly loves the place. I would happily return time and time again.

    Stayed here for Christmas with family & friends , never stayed in the lakes for Christmas before . This lovely cottage made our xmas , we brought all the decorations that we would have had up at home , and made the cottage really lovely home from home . Felt like we had always lived there . Would definitely go there again especially for xmas but unfortunately it is not available for next xmas 🙁 would highly recommend. Thank you waingap for making it a xmas to remember .

    I would recommend Waingap to anyone who wants a truly relaxing break from everyday life...I've already sent the link to 3 friends! If you're looking for a property that's full of granite, steel and looks like something from the future, Waingap isn't for you. If you want a beautiful property, full of interesting pieces of art, so many books I'd thought I'd gone to heaven and has a proper country getaway feel then this is the place for you. Beautiful gardens to relax in (or play if you've got children), wonderful walks right from the front door and anywhere worth going in the Lakes no more than a 45 minute drive away. It's been beautifully and sympathetically restored and decorated with so much care and attention you can't help but fall in love. It can't be described as modern in its decoration but it has everything you should need with regards to a very well stocked kitchen complete with fancy hob and oven. It was incredibly clean and obviously loved by whoever looks after it. The only downside, and it isn't really a downside unless you're planning to go there just to use the Wi-Fi, is that the Wi-Fi didn't work most nights. To be fair there's a smart TV with Freeview that works perfectly fine, and a book for everyone, so for me this wasn't an issue and has not gone against the property in when it comes to scoring or reviewing. It's not the owners fault that the provider is unreliable, it's not their fault that my husband couldn't stay disconnected for a week either! An absolutely fantastic holiday, made better by the breath taking views from the garden and the relaxing nature of the property. See you next year Waingap!
