Description

A spacious detached farmhouse with original features and delightful rural views towards the sea.

This stunning detached house converted from farm outbuildings in 2007 is situated in the Llyn Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its spacious, open-plan living/dining room retains many original features including a high, beamed ceiling; there are real wood floors with under-floor heating throughout. Furnishings also mix old and new - an antique, French, iron and brass bed, a Deco wardrobe, blend with red leather sofas of contemporary design and original, modern paintings. The large lawned garden looks across the fields to the sea. The farmhouse (the owner’s holiday home) has 14 acres of land giving Ty Hir privacy and peace. This lovely, unspoilt region offers coastal walks; sandy beaches; nearby Abersoch and Pwllheli, with water-sports, restaurants, and shops; and, not far away, the spectacular scenery of Snowdonia. Shops 1¾ miles.

Spacious, beamed living/dining room with oak floor. Large, well-equipped, modern kitchen with breakfast area and Welsh slate floor. Two oak-floored, double bedrooms, each with 5ft bed, one with open wood staircase to Welsh ‘crog-loft’ (twin bedroom). Bathroom with large shower, large bath and Welsh slate floor. All rooms on ground floor (ie except for twin) are separated by only 2 single steps. The house is full of light.

We had a wonderful stay at Ty Hir! Janys was so helpful and was on hand if needed, but completely respectful of our privacy. We arrived to a lovely, clean property with a bottle of red wine waiting! There was milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and sugar in the cupboard and fresh flowers throughout the house. The house itself is so well equipped with all of the thoughtful touches; you will want for nothing - with the possible exception of Wi-Fi. You might miss this if you are a technophile; we personally welcome the break from being on the communication treadmill of life! Ty Hir is ideally situated to explore some of the gems of the Llyn Peninsula. Whistling Sands was stunning; we could easily have been in the Med! You have local amenities at Aberdaron and, a little further afield, Abersoch, Pwllheli, Criccieth and Porthmadog are all worth a trip. We visited Black Rock sands at Porthmadog for the first time and found it a lovely big beach - we especially liked being able to park on the sand so you didn’t have to lug all of your stuff up and down a big hill! Knowing the area well, we made our annual pilgrimage to Llanberis where the scenery is breathtaking. The lake railway is a great activity for the kids and the free skate museum well worth a visit - the café is excellent! We will definitely be back!
