In a setting of stunning natural beauty in the Exmoor National Park, with indoor heated swimming pool, Triscombe Farm Country Cottages are a combination of 19th century cottages and skilful conversions from existing farm buildings. Leisure facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, games room (pool table and table tennis) and all-weather tennis court (please bring your own racquets and balls). Natural water is provided from our own spring. With unspoilt countryside all around, and reached by a long, sweeping driveway, the country cottages are nestling in a sheltered, wooded valley overlooking the River Quarme. Each of the cottages has been individually styled and equipped to offer comfortable holiday accommodation and are all located at the heart of the farm (wellies advisable during wet weather).
The cottages make the perfect base for holidays at any time of the year. A stream cascades through the hillside garden, there is ample space in which to sit and relax, or enjoy a family picnic or barbecue. Spectacular views across the valley to Dunkery Beacon unfold as you wander around. Badgers, buzzards, foxes, red deer and an abundance of birdlife can often be seen, so don’t forget your binoculars. Bracken Cottage ref: B5817, Juniper ref: 28060 and Primrose Cottage ref: 30027 are ground floor cottages, Rose Cottage ref: B5810 is believed to be the original farmhouse and Whortleberry Cottage ref: 29890 a skillful conversion has a large living room, ideal for family get togethers, Coachman’s Cottage ref: B5813 is a spacious original cottage and Garden Cottage ref: B5812 and Orchard Cottage ref: B5811 once polo pony stables with flats above are ‘upside down’ cottages with farmland views. Stream Cottage ref: 27550 is the original farm manager’s cottage.

From Triscombe Farm you can explore the magic of Exmoor, an area of wild natural beauty, inhabited by native ponies and red deer. Exmoor Safaris take you right into the heart of this area of heather clad moors, sheltered wooded combes, pretty villages with thatched cottages and ancient packhorse bridges. The National Park rangers provide guided walks.
A few miles from Triscombe is Exmoor’s spectacular, breathtaking and beautiful northern coast, the highest in Britain, with sheltered bays and where steep cliffs plunge into the sea. You can enjoy fantastic coastal walks here along the cliff top coastal path, with dramatic views of the coastline and out to sea. From Dunkery Beacon (1707ft) there are panoramic views to Wales, Dartmoor and beyond. Minehead is only 10 miles away with a beach, Butlin’s, harbour and variety of pubs and restaurants, as well as the fantastic famous West Somerset steam railway. Historic Dunster (National Trust castle) is one of the prettiest villages on Exmoor. Porlock and Dulverton offer interesting shops and tea shops where you can enjoy a traditional Somerset cream tea. There are many places to visit locally including Knightshayes Court, a splendid Victorian house at Tiverton.
Bucket and spade, saddle and bridle, boots and backpack, fishing rod and boat, picnic hamper and driving gloves, mountain bike and water bottle - you decide what you make of Exmoor,"Still England but another World". There is so much to do locally, the owners hope to welcome you back time and time again.

When I book a cottage I don't expect to have someone in a property above you, that you can hear walking around, also this is the first cottage I have stayed in where towels are not supplied in the bathroom, (strange).

We got a free upgrade which was nice. It was lovely to have a swimming pool but we didn't use it. It was too much hassle to uncover it and recover after use. There was adequate equipment in the flat but it could do with updating. The access to the track up to the complex was difficult and visibility when driving back onto the main road was limited. The track could do with more than one passing place.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. These guests were offered a complimentary upgrade to more comfortable accommodation, a 2 storey cottage and not a flat, with the added bonus of a private garden area & additional kitchen facilities including a dishwasher. This was prior to arrival and is our policy, should we have the availability to do so. The tariff we received for this booking included free use of an indoor heated pool, which most guests love to use without difficulty. Also they have use of a games room, tennis court and shared garden area set within private farmland within Exmoor National Park. Making this an absolute bargain of a holiday. The drive is wider than some of Exmoor's country roads. The weather during this couple's stay was poor & in our opinion this impacted on their holiday enjoyment and we feel this is reflected in the score 3 out of 10.

Very friendly and welcoming, fantastic swimming pool , beautiful peaceful location. Lovely garden pretty little stream. Unfortunately the cottage was very damp, all our clothes smelt of damp and nothing dried when we hung it up including towels from the shower.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your positive comments. Your comments regarding the cottage being damp were investigated with a damp meter & we could not find any evidence to agree with your comment. It is strange that the towels wouldn't dry as there is a heated towel rail in the shower room. We also provide a tumble dryer with the washing facilities in the communal information / laundry area.
