Leisure facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, games room (pool table and table tennis) and all-weather tennis court (please bring your own racquets and balls). Natural water is provided from our own spring. With unspoilt countryside all around, and reached by a long, sweeping driveway, the country cottages are nestling in a sheltered, wooded valley overlooking the River Quarme. Each of the cottages has been individually styled and equipped to offer comfortable holiday accommodation and are all located at the heart of the farm (wellies advisable during wet weather).
The cottages make the perfect base for holidays at any time of the year. A stream cascades through the hillside garden, there is ample space in which to sit and relax, or enjoy a family picnic or barbecue. Spectacular views across the valley to Dunkery Beacon unfold as you wander around. Badgers, buzzards, foxes, red deer and an abundance of birdlife can often be seen, so don’t forget your binoculars. Bracken Cottage ref: B5817, Juniper ref: 28060 and Primrose Cottage ref: 30027 are ground floor cottages, Rose Cottage ref: B5810 is believed to be the original farmhouse and Whortleberry Cottage ref: 29890 a skillful conversion has a large living room, ideal for family get togethers, Coachman’s Cottage ref: B5813 is a spacious original cottage and Garden Cottage ref: B5812 and Orchard Cottage ref: B5811 once polo pony stables with flats above are ‘upside down’ cottages with farmland views. Stream Cottage ref: 27550 is the original farm manager’s cottage.

From Triscombe Farm you can explore the magic of Exmoor, an area of wild natural beauty, inhabited by native ponies and red deer. Exmoor Safaris take you right into the heart of this area of heather clad moors, sheltered wooded combes, pretty villages with thatched cottages and ancient packhorse bridges. The National Park rangers provide guided walks.
A few miles from Triscombe is Exmoor’s spectacular, breathtaking and beautiful northern coast, the highest in Britain, with sheltered bays and where steep cliffs plunge into the sea. You can enjoy fantastic coastal walks here along the cliff top coastal path, with dramatic views of the coastline and out to sea. From Dunkery Beacon (1707ft) there are panoramic views to Wales, Dartmoor and beyond. Minehead is only 10 miles away with a beach, Butlin’s, harbour and variety of pubs and restaurants, as well as the fantastic famous West Somerset steam railway. Historic Dunster (National Trust castle) is one of the prettiest villages on Exmoor. Porlock and Dulverton offer interesting shops and tea shops where you can enjoy a traditional Somerset cream tea. There are many places to visit locally including Knightshayes Court, a splendid Victorian house at Tiverton.

This holiday cottage was given 4.5 out of 5 on trip advisor. Maybe 20 years ago. The location is very rural. Advertised internet which didn’t work. The cottage is very small and dated. The kettle leaked. And there were spiders and cobwebs everywhere. The bedding had strands of hair on itincluding the mattress protector and topper. We left after a few days. I was cleaning cobwebs off the ceiling in my children’s bedroom as they were in bunk beds. Accessibility for people with mobility issues was really poor. You had to pay for electricity and share a laundry. Everything is electric. The kitchen was very dated. The only good thing was the swimming pool which is what attracted me to the cottage. We were visiting family in the area. I did not make a complaint as I felt unable to. Nothing had been cleaned. Pictures. bed etc. I spent an entire evening cleaning my room.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were horrified to read this guests review. Our house rule is to let us know immediately if there are any issues. Our cleaning team are proud of their standard of work & regularly receive compliments from our guests. We also use a professional laundry service for our linen. Triscombe is situated in a beautiful rural location in the protected environment of a National Park however this does mean that we only receive rural services and cannot be accountable for visiting wildlife after check in although we are happy to evict them for you . The accommodation and what we offer / extras charged are as photographed and advertised unless there has been an upgrade of e.g. furniture with new items purchased, which haven't yet been uploaded in photographs onto the web site. Our decision to tailor our costs in this way, ensures that guests only pay for utilities they use. Use of the pool is foc. From the property description and photographs it is common sense to inquire before booking if you are unsure about any aspect of our accommodation or are a guest with special needs in particular mobility problems. We make reasonable adjustments but these are determined by the topography of the location which we cannot change. We are naturally disappointed to have received such a low rating, especially given the customer didn’t contact us at the time of their stay, thus allowing us the chance to rectify any issues.

We had an absolutely amazing holiday at Garden Cottage. The cottage is set in the most wonderful location, was rustic, romantic for my fiancee and myself, with all the facilities you could possibly wish for, a real home from home. Fantastic scenery , swimming pool, games room and tennis court, all of which we made use of during our stay. The hosts were amazing, very helpful and we couldn't praise them more! We have told them we will be returning to the same cottage at least twice per year. It is our getaway from our busy work lives and gave us a chance to truly relax. 10 out of 10 in every category, we left feeling 100% refreshed and didn't want to leave! From two very very happy and satisfied and delighted customers, Rob and Nikita xx
