The location is fine, with amenities within a 10 minute drive. The actual property was big enough for the 4 of us. The property was not as clean as we wanted. The kitchen was supplied with worn out pots and pans, a broken microwave and a dirty oven. The beds were outfitted with flat pillows and the blanket on the bed was used. The bathroom wasn't clean and the cleaning supplies that were provided were almost empty. A vacation rental should feel like a treat, and it was work to stay there. We ended up leaving a day early because we were so frustrated with the plan. Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of the property, especially as we had paid more than the usual cost because of the Easter holiday. I hope the owners consider replacing the items that have worn out. A thorough cleaning of the property between guests would improve guest satisfaction.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; All we can do is apologise - we are remote from our holiday cottage and rely on feedback, however we cannot understand why our site caretaker was not contacted straight away (his details are in the front of our info book) - all the alleged issues could have easily been resolved promptly & efficiently but we will answer your comments in turn: Cleaning - we have spoken to the caretaker/cleaner who is adamant the cottage was cleaned to a high standard, in addition to a recent pre-season deep clean - identical properties on the farmhouse/cottages complex use his services and have had glowing reviews on the website re the cleaning. Microwave - the microwave was working in March and later guests had not informed the caretaker it had since broken - it has now been replaced. Pans - albeit ageing, are clean and usable but as a courtesy gesture we will be replacing them. Had the above matters been resolved with the caretaker at the beginning of your holiday, I’m sure your stay would have been more enjoyable.

We cannot understand the previous reviews, we had a lovely time, the cottage was spotlessly clean, very well maintained and furnished-a home from home. We would definitely come again.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for kind comments. It is nice to hear you enjoyed your stay at our cottage and it's pleasing to know our efforts to improve have been appreciated, please come again.

The cottage was comfortable although there was just few things needed attention. The bathroom was clean but there was quite a lot of mould in two corners of the ceiling. The hot water tap in the kitchen was very loose and needed adjustment. But with a little more care, the cottage would be perfect

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments - we are pleased you had an enjoyable holiday staying at our cottage. The wobbly tap you referred to was temporarily repaired by our caretaker and must have worked its way loose again - it is being replaced at the end of the season. We are also having an extractor fan fitted in the bathroom which will alleviate the small amount of black mould in the bathroom.

The accommodation was in a great location, however, the overall cleanliness was quite poor. The tiles in the bathroom next to the toilet had to be cleaned, and all of the kitchen work surfaces & table were very sticky, therefore, they had to be cleaned. The back of the beds were thick with dust. The oven didn't work very well and the hob was very rusty. I don't expect to have to clean when I arrive to enjoy my holiday. I believe that the accommodation is looking a little "tired" around the edges and needs a complete face lift. If this were to happen I would stay here again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments, we cannot apologise enough for the state of the cleanliness of our cottage. As we are remote from the property, we were not aware the cleaner was not doing her job properly, she has now been dismissed and as from the 23rd September, a new cleaner has been appointed who is doing an excellent job. It is getting towards the end of a busy season and therefore improvements and repairs will always be required for the following year, this will include 3 new blinds to replace the ones which have been broken by guests along with new kitchen taps / sink. Although the oven / hob are only 2 years old, we will be replacing them too. We would also like to add that we have done a lot of work to our cottage over the last few years including new sofas, wooden floors / rugs, a new oven / hob, shower tray and decorated throughout. To conclude, we are pleased you had a nice holiday and look forward to seeing you again.

fistral cottage was very dirty when we arrived, we had to swap the bed sheets over owing to stains and hairs, there were long black hairs inside the fridge the work surfaces in the kitchen were sticky and had not been cleaned properly when we went to make a meal the plates were filthy we were so disappointed to have to start cleaning after our long journey from Yorkshire.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for drawing this to our attention - we were horrified to read your comments about the standard of cleaning which we were not aware of and offer our sincere apologies. As a result we have now dismissed our cleaner with immediate effect and we have a new one in place who will clean the cottage to our expected high standard. We have also provided new bed linen and starting next year we no longer take dogs which have also caused problems. Despite this, after speaking to your husband, we are pleased to hear you had a nice time in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
