Description

A larger holiday property for a family or group of friends to enjoy the myriad activities, or simply relax and enjoy the views.

In a superb location with wonderful views towards Loch Linnhe, the Caledonian Canal, Fort William and the surrounding mountains, this spacious house, one of a pair, adjoins the owners’ seldom used holiday apartment and offers an ideal base for discovering the west coast of Scotland. The holiday property is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season.
The area is renowned for its outdoor pursuits, breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife. Known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’, activities include mountain biking, climbing, skiing, kayaking, walking, golf and fishing. Take a trip on the gondola up Aonach Mor or try the World Championship mountain bike course. For outdoor enthusiasts who like a challenge, why not take on Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain. On a clear day, the view is spectacular and you can see for miles. For steam train enthusiasts, catch the West Highland Steam Train to Mallaig, crossing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct which featured in the Harry Potter films, (or watch it from the garden as it puffs past the house daily during the summer months). Alternatively, visit some of the unspoilt beaches, historic castles, museums, distilleries and magnificent gardens.
Boat trips to the inner isles are easily accessible, including Mull with its main, colourful, harbourside town, Tobermoray, also known as Balamory in the children’s TV series, Staffa and the cathedral like Fingal’s Cave, and Iona with its pristine white sands and famous abbey. Torfern is also ideally placed for touring with the bustling harbour town of Oban, Aviemore for winter sports, Inverness, Skye or monster spotting at Loch Ness all easily reached. Shop and pub 200 yards.

We had stayed twice before (says it all really) and so knew what to expect. The home is lovely with all mod cons and especially great views of the loch and Ben Nevis. Plenty of great walks nearby. Good co-op. Big M&S foodhall and large supermarkets nearby. We had 8 + dogs and it did not feel crowded. Large garden helped.

This was our favorite stay on our 20 day trip. We would absolutely stay here again if ever in Scotland. The locations as perfect. The house was beautiful. Loved having a pub and Co-Op right next store. If I could rate it higher than a 10, I would!

We had a fantastic stay at Torfern. The design and layout of the house is superb and the views from the windows ....well we can't think that you would get a better view anywhere. The house is very spacious and the choice of 2 lounges suits a family holiday. The grandchildren LOVED the secret garden! The house is very well equipped, everything you will need. The location is fantastic, quiet flat walks if you choose along the canal or for the fitter and ambitious a choice of mountain walks within a few minutes drive . The weather for us was mixed but plenty of activities at local Nevis centre and in Fort William. We were thrilled to fulfill a life long ambition and climb Ben Nevis - it was a challenge but so glad we did it and then return to the comfort of Torfern to celebrate! Thank you very much for a memorable stay. Mary Pete and family from Saddleworth

Superb cottage beautifully equipped and immaculately clean. The position is great with the train line and the sea lock at the end of the Caledonian Canal within a 100 yards meant loads to see. To top of it all a drop dead gorgeous view of the sea loch and Ben Nevis.
