The cottage is situated in a beautiful location and is an excellent base from which to go out and explore nature. With that said, we felt somewhat let down that 3 of our requirements for somewhere to stay, which had been listed as being fulfilled by this property, were in fact not actually available here. High chair - we were informed was not actually available when we contacted the cottage prior to our visit. Bath - had clearly not (ever?) been properly cleaned, so we did not feel comfortable using it. Wi-fi - there's something in the welcome pack about it being a restricted supply with a daily limit. In fact, I think it must be a service shared with another property as it worked perfectly for an unlimited amount of time from around midnight, but never worked at all during the day, regardless of how much or how little was used the night before. Furthermore, the drinking water was orange, so I would make sure you bring a supply of your own. Despite claims it was all safe to drink, we preferred not to. There were also lethal mouse traps in the property, one of which had a dead mouse in it. Although these were hidden, our son could have easily accessed them, which is both unsafe and unhygienic. Pros: Beautiful location Great walks Remote - no local amenities but that's to be expected from this type of property, so can't be seen as a drawback. Well stocked kitchen. I only missed a pastry brush and tongs when cooking, but everything you could expect was available. Cons: Though parts of the property were reasonably clean, the filthy bath and mouse traps means the cleanliness was well below what we would find acceptable. Unavailability of wi-fi - should not be listed as available at the property. High chair should have been replaced. Furniture very uncomfortable and desperately needing to be replaced. Water appears dirty.

The location of the cottage was fantastic, beautiful scenery all around and walks from the door. The decor however was very dated, very comfortable bed, I just felt for the price we paid it could be in alot better condition. We had a lovely week otherwise.

If you want somewhere stunningly remote but still within a short drive of stunning countryside and of course amenities, then this is perfect! Gorgeous dog walks on your doorstep (although be mindful of the ticks) and we didn't meet a single soul on our walks which was perfect for our nervous rescue boy. We wanted somewhere to switch off and recharge and this was just the job! The only slight down side was the bedrooms and the creaky, squeaky floorboards - it could definitely do with some upgrading, but this is far out weighed by the sheer location! We will be returning and if it ever comes up for sale - I'd be interested 
