Approached by a steep, narrow road, Thimble Cottage stands detached within it’s own grounds with an orchard and garden overlooking the river valley below.

This is a remote and wild area yet which has much to offer with a rugged heritage coastline, breathtaking cliff top coastal walks, Hartland Quay, the beautiful gardens at Docton Mill and Hartland Abbey. The popular village of Clovelly with it’s quaint cobbled streets and picturesque harbour, can be reached easily.

There are lots of local walks and footpaths close by, the village has three pubs and a renowned restaurant just a short walk away. The nearest supermarkets are 13 miles away in Bideford and Bude, but the local shops in the village are well stocked. Just a ¼ mile away is a post office, village store, café, fish and chip shop, vet, doctors surgery, potteries and art galleries.

The property welcomes pets and the owners provide a doggy welcome pack. The coastline, 2½ miles away, is rocky with sandy areas depending on the tide. For large sandy beaches, visit Instow and Bude, about 15 miles away. Beach 2½ miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ¼ mile.

Great cottage with fab garden enclosed and secure for our doggies. Comfy and home from home ease. Hartland village is 5 minutes walk. What a great village too. We went to all the pubs, the British Legion, shops, chippy and bought some images from the photographer and crochet animals from a really quaint window. Everyone was warm and welcoming. Walks through the woods are literally one minute away from the front door! We walked to Hartland Quays which was about 3 miles away. Footpaths through woods church and fields with only a short walk on the road. We had a fantastic relaxing time and whilst away from main tourist bits of Devon, Hartland offers everything you could possibly need. Highly recommend this cottage in this village. Fabulous.

The ideal base for two/three people to explore the wonderful North Devon coast and inland attractions. It’s a very comfortable little nest.
