A wonderful peaceful place to get away from everything. Lousy signal on EE. Perfect no phone calls. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

The cottage overall was lovely. Comfortable, especially the very comfy and large bed. The only reasons we would not return was firstly there were very few walks from the door for our dog and secondly we were unable to walk to the pub in the dark evenings because of the very steep, narrow lane. Perhaps ok if staying in the summer.

Response on behalf of the owner- Thank you so much for your 10 star review, but were sorry you didnt find the foodpaths and woodlands from the cottage. There should be an OS Explorer map in the lounge, you can follow lots, three almost immediately from the cottage including one all the way to the Abbey and onto the sea. We have left a torch for the unlit steep lane to the village centre a few minutes walk away, there you have the Vale woodland with another series of paths too. At least its downhill when you come back from the village. At night you can admire the amazing clear skies and often the Milky Way.

This was our first holiday at Thimble Cottage and I hope we will have many more. The cottage is very warm and cosy, very well equipped. The cottage was extremely clean and the king sized bed was really comfortable. It really was like home from home. The locals are friendly and we found the nearby shops to be very good. The wifi is without fault....no problems with it working at all. The o2 phone reception is not good but there's adequate coverage if you step outside into the garden. We had 2 small dogs with us and found a beach at Instow (about 15 miles away) were the dogs could run along off the lead. There are other beaches that are dog friendly but we found Instow suited us best. However, the area surrounding the cottage is lovely for walks. The owners are very friendly and helful but we didn't need to contact them while we stayed at Thimble Cottage. All credit to the caretakers for taking such good care of the cottage. The cleanliness and care of the garden were second to none. Many thanks for a lovely stay at Hartford.

Lovely little getaway. First time away with our young baby. Cottage was perfect in a great out of the way location to explore the Hartland Peninsula

Wonderful decor and facilities but bath towels like cardboard and bedroom very damp. Good venue to access places of interest

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for your comments & we are sorry that you did not contact us during your stay. Although it is an old building & the south west does get its fair share of rain, we have visited ourselves & spoken to guests since your stay. We cannot detect any signs of damp. When we contacted you, you said it was not the bedroom itself but your clothes in the wardrobe that felt damp, perhaps some wet clothing was hung in with them. We are sorry about the towels, which we would have gladly changed. Our cleaner is endeavouring to keep them fluffy! We are glad you liked the decor & facilities & hope you will visit again one day
