Superb country setting

This marvellous detached former stable block is around 100 years old and built in local eye-catching red stone. The timber has been sourced locally from Lydney and adds to its wonderful warmth and character. The owner is a keen hot air balloon enthusiast and flights can be arranged locally dependent on the weather. The barn conversion itself is delightfully equipped and includes a surround sound home cinema system with 6ft screen. It is situated on the edge of Chepstow Park Wood (900 acres), in grounds of over 3 acres, and is located within the famous Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Convenient location for visiting the Wye valley and its attractions. Cottage was clean and tidy, including kitchen and bathroom (looks like the shower has been upgraded since previous reviews). Slightly unusual layout dictated by property shape with access to bathroom from children's bedroom being via another bedroom. Large projector TV screen which took some mastering. Adjacent road can be noisy on some occasions but did not spoil our break. Owners, who were welcoming, live nearby and are looking at completing a miniature railway project which may interest some. Plenty of wildlife. No provision for electric car charging so used supermarket facility in Chepstow.

We had a lovely family week away at The Stables. It was a great base for exploring the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Welsh hills. We loved the fact that you could walk across the road and straight into beautiful forestry land to walk through. The owners were really friendly and welcoming and the stables perfect for our family. Thoroughly recommended
