The Smithy Barn is an exquisite country lodge set in the heart of Symonds Yat and overlooking the River Wye. Guests can expect an exceptional stay at this gorgeous property with unobstructed views of the valley and a winding riverside path to explore, down to Biblins Bridge and beyond.
Walking through this magnificent property you’ll enter a large lounge with plush comfortable sofas to snuggle in, whilst taking views of the river and ancient woodland. When night closes in, light the log burner and settle into a night in front of the plasma Sky TV (with all sporting channels).
Superb facilities for children make this an idyllic country home to visit in all seasons. Adults and children alike will have fun playing pool, table tennis, football and for the little ones there’s a zip wire and trampoline in the lodge’s grounds. Spring and Summer’s days are perfect for a swim in the pool (open May 1st–September 30th) or use the lodge’s private river access and dip your toes into the water along the banks of the River Wye. Look out across the valley in the Autumn and Winter snuggled by the cozy fireplace and watch the tree canopies change from deep green to rustic, auburn browns and reds.
The large chunky wood dining tables allow guests to eat, whilst watching the canoeists bobbing over the river rapids. A spacious kitchen is thoughtfully fitted with all the amenities you’d expect from a home from home: gas oven/stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. Friends can perch at the breakfast bar in the mornings whilst you brew a fresh cafetiere of coffee, ready to begin your next adventure for the day.
The Smithy Barn comfortably sleeps 14 guests: 4 double en-suite rooms, 1 en-suite twin room with cot and a fantastic kid’s room with two single beds and a bunk. All the en-suite bathrooms are furnished with shower, WC and hand basin. There is also a family bathroom located on the first floor, with roll-top bath, WC and basin. A utility room conveniently holds a washing machine, tumble drier and drying area perfect for cleaning down after a day out on the river.
Spoilt for choice you can take a glass of wine on the terrace or decide to mosey on down to the local pub—the Old Ferrie Inn—and catch a pint with Jamie the landlord. You won’t tire of the many options to enjoy the great outdoors from this fantastic location. Canoes can be launched using the property’s private river access, keen cyclists can enjoy paths along the banks of the Wye, walkers can cross to Saracens Head on a hand-pulled ferry, and nature enthusiasts can watch for local wildlife and birds of prey.
Two four-legged friends are invited to stay at The Smithy Barn for a small fee; however, we ask that tiny paws stay downstairs and off the furniture. You’re spoilt for walking choices with serene paths that weave through the forested flanks of the valley, right from your doorstep, or awe-striking views across the rugged hilltops if you decide to climb Symonds Yat Rock. Join the many guests that The Smithy Barn has hosted and create a holiday to treasure.
Ample parking is provided with this property for up to 8 cars on the private driveway.
