The two bedrooms each have an en-suite and the spacious kitchen/dining area is the perfect place to enjoy a lazy breakfast whilst you plan your day.
There is something for everyone in this stunning location with birdwatching, fishing, horse riding, golf, surfing and sailing close by. The nearby coastal path leads you to the famous fishing village of Clovelly and the unspoilt beach at Peppercombe, or if you are feeling energetic you can walk all the way to Westward Ho!. A village store and post office is just ½ mile away for your daily essentials, and nearby Bideford has restaurants and town amenities along with boat trips to Lundy Island, or hire a bike and explore the Tarka Trail. RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Docton Mill and Hartland Quay are well worth a visit, along with many pretty fishing villages to explore, including nearby Instow and Appledore. A lovely compact cottage, in a quite area, perfectly suited our needs. Mum, son and grandson. Situated on a working farm. Immaculate and well laid out. The kitchen area was well equipped. Everything you needed to make a meal. Plenty of cupboard space for your groceries etc. Supermarkets nearby. Bags of ice were provided, which was a bonus meaning not having to buy it and end up melting before you got there. The phone signal was a bit hit and miss in the cottage, fine outside. No wifi. We were out most of the day so no issues. Several board games to play. Nearby attractions. The Milky Way Adventure Park, Clovelly village. This is a private village. Fee payable to entry, but worth it. Bucks Mill with its beach, great for rock pooling. Dartington Glass further afield in Torrington. Many other places to see. We made the most of our 4 night stay. The owner is very pleasant, and made us a lovely fruit cake. I wish we could have stayed longer, but living in the North made it a long drive, so we broke the journey by staying in Bristol on the way there and back visiting family. Would love to go again. Highly recommended.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your kind words. I agree mobile phone signals are not very good in our part of North Devon, even though we apparently have a couple of new masts put up. We are trying to get Wi-fi into The Shippen for next year, but we’ve been told that it still may not be very good. Fingers crossed. Two of the very few disadvantages of living in the beautiful Bucks Cross.
