Description

Ideal for golfing enthusiasts, this wooden lodge with a private hot tub, overlooks the fairways of Caldecott Hall Golf Club.

The Shank is part of the exclusive Fairway Lakes Village, a Scandinavian designed wooden lodge development overlooking the fairways of the 400-acre Caldecott Hall Golf Club, situated on the fringes of the Norfolk Broads National Park. Sit in the hot tub and enjoy the views or relax in the living room which offers children’s games, a large beanbag and a telescope. On-site, guests can enjoy the facilities of The Barnworks Fitness and Spa (at cost), including an indoor heated swimming pool. With two 18-hole golf courses you can improve your game and relax afterwards in the clubhouse where hot food is served (seasonal opening times). ‘Catch and Release’ fishing in the lakes is permitted on request. Adopt a horse from the on-site Redwings Horse Sanctuary or visit the Somerleyton Estate. Further afield is the traditional seaside resort of Great Yarmouth or the cathedral city of Norwich. Both north Norfolk and Suffolk Heritage coasts deserve a day trip, as well as the quaint market towns of Beccles and Bungay. The property was awarded Gold standard by the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) in September 2012 for environmental sustainability, with water efficient taps and showers, recycling and composting are encouraged. We book The Shsnk as we have stayed in the Fairways Lakes’ holiday lodges 3 times previous. The lodge is in a great spot and lots of activities are just a short car journey away. The lodge we did find was quite dirty. Somebody else’s hair on the bathroom tiles, dirty crockery, dirty/dusty handprints on kitchen sides. The freezer too was dirty and contained someone else’s food! The place is perhsps in need of a refurb too as it is a little worn and dated in places.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thanks very much for your feedback, and dreadfully sorry that it wasn’t up to our usual high standards. We employed a contract cleaner for that week and obviously need to keep a closer eye on them. Thanks again.

Excellent Lodge in a great position, totally relaxing holiday in tranquil surrounds. Owner was very helpful with great communication, and personal greeting card with flowers & wine! No shop, pub or amenities in walking distance so car Essential.
