Set at the end of a quiet country track near Westbury, The Red Barn at Tiled House is a detached cottage surrounded by open farmland and the gentle sounds of rural life. Sleeping up to four guests, it is particularly well suited to couples or smaller parties of up to three. The setting feels wonderfully private and peaceful, while the barn itself combines original features with a bright, comfortable space for spending time together.
The bedrooms and shower room are on the ground floor. There is one double bedroom and a second bedroom with a single bed and an additional pull-out trundle bed, which can accommodate a fourth guest when required.
Upstairs, you’ll find a light, open-plan living space with exposed beams and views across the surrounding fields. There is a well-equipped kitchen for relaxed meals at home, a breakfast bar for dining together and a comfortable sitting area where you can put your feet up. Starlink internet provides a reliable connection during your stay.
Outside, the private patio is ideal for firing up the barbecue during the summer. Free-range chickens often wander by, while red kites and owls are regularly spotted overhead. The owners also provide a lovely welcome basket with fresh eggs. Dogs are welcome too, so the whole family can enjoy a proper countryside escape. Private parking and an EV charging point are also available at the property.
The barn is set in a lovely part of West Shropshire, close to the Welsh border and surrounded by quiet lanes, footpaths and rolling hills. It is a great base for walkers, cyclists and anyone who enjoys getting out into the countryside without having to travel far. The nearby Long Mountain and Breidden Hills offer beautiful walks and open views, while the wider Shropshire Hills provide plenty of routes to explore at your own pace.
Westbury is within easy reach for everyday essentials, while both Shrewsbury and Welshpool make enjoyable days out. Shrewsbury is full of independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, as well as its historic castle, riverside walks and beautiful Quarry park. Welshpool is a good choice for visiting Powis Castle and its impressive gardens, taking a ride on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, or enjoying a stroll along the Montgomery Canal.
There is plenty to discover on both sides of the border, from market towns and castles to smaller villages, farm shops and country pubs. Whether you fill your days with walking, sightseeing and good food, or simply stay close to home and enjoy the view, The Red Barn at Tiled House is a relaxed place to return to at the end of the day.
Please note: The cottage is reached along a rural track, which is suitable for standard cars but may not be suitable for very low vehicles. It is situated within the owners’ grounds but enjoys its own private patio and peaceful setting surrounded by farmland. As you would expect from a traditional barn conversion, there are some low beams inside the property.
