What a lovely cottage! My daughter was having a hen weekend at another much larger, local property and my friend and I were invited along. We rented Pigsty Cottage so that we had somewhere calm to go to sleep while they continued to party into the night  It was perfect. Philippa had left milk and eggs for us. Beautiful views. It’s a snug cottage that had everything we needed and a proper staircase. I can’t comment on local amenities really (apart from a lovely hotel- Sweeney Hall Hotel- where we had afternoon tea) because we didn’t use any- we just went back and forth between the two houses. Thank you Philippa!

What a delightful place to stay! The cottage is compact, even bijou, but was warm, clean, cosy and the owner, was very welcoming and helpful. Sadly, we didn't get to meet his partner, but I had a lovely chat with her on the phone before we set off on our short break. The cottage is tucked away up a very quiet, narrow lane, could be difficult to find after dark, although we had no trouble. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, as are the views from the front of the cottage. There's plenty of walking to be had from the cottage door. Local amenities don't stretch to much in the way of shopping, but Oswestry is not far away, where there are several of the "main" supermarkets. The fresh eggs from the resident hens, plus the milk, was most welcome when we arrived. Some may find the bathroom challenging, but for us, it just added to the quirkiness of the cottage. Due to the slope of the ceiling over the bath, you will only manage to shower standing up if you are 5ft 4" or less, but as this was mentioned in the write up and indeed in the previous reviews that we read, it wasn't an issue for us. All in all, a lovely place to stay!
