Had a perfect weekend in The Orangerie. Ruby and Vincent were extremely accommodating and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend :-)

The cottage looked as if it was the end of the season not the start. The photo’s must have been taken some time ago. Outside decking area could have done with a jet wash as the walls were dirty from the heavy winter. Could be a real gem as the location is lovely and it’s a very quirky property but we just had a bad experience.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Constructive criticism is taken on board, and any issues addressed. We go out of our way to ensure our guests have a super time, and judging by our certificates of excellence, and our visitors comments book, we believe we are doing a good job. Regards to the 3/10 for cleanliness we refute this. It is part of our agreement that our property is left in a similar condition to how it is found. It is immaculate when our lovely guests arrive. Unfortunately the booking conditions were not adhered to and upon departure the property was found to have been left in an unsatisfactory condition which therefore required extra cleaning. We returned from holiday to find these guests had had a power out after you had gone to bed on the Friday night. They contacted our housekeeper who was there, with an electrician, early on the Saturday morning. The electrician and my (other business) driver I believe, were very attentive to the guests, and although power was up and running right away, unfortunately a part had to be ordered for the hot tub. The guests chose to stay the two nights which was their intention, and left on the Sunday. To which I might add they met one of our staff locally who told us they said they had a great time? On our return, our initial response was tell our agent to give them a part refund due to the loss of use of the hot tub for one night. However, after departure given the condition the property had been left in, we sadly felt we had to withdraw our offer. Our housekeeper bent over backwards to meet these guests out of hours, and offered great assistance. She could not possibly have been more diligent or helpful. Our terrace and walls are power washed regularly. The Hot Tub being out of use due to a minor breakdown which unfortunately happens and was duly fixed, was indeed a disappointment for the guests and I understood their disappointment in that. Had the property been left as it should have been, they would have received the appropriate compensation. Thank you for visiting the Orangerie.

Had a fantastic few nights. Very relaxing and cosy. Fire was lite for us on arrival as we arrived at night. Nothing a bother the Vincent and ruby. Will definitely be be back.

Brilliant place to unwind and relax. Only reason for the 9 on the comfort and equipment was because a couple or minor points were pointed out on arrival which don't detract and certainly didn't bother us. Will definitely book again a great place to stay.

The owner, Vincent, was a most welcoming host. An ideal location for a quiet and peaceful holiday, only a few minutes drive away from the national park. The hot tub was excellent.

Where to start? If you're in two minds about whether to book this DO IT. You won't regret it! We had the most wonderful, warm welcome from Vincent and Ruby who were the perfect hosts. The orangery itself is situated just far enough away from the nearest town to feel remote but only a short drive and there are plenty of amenities and lots of sights to see. Inside you'll find a beautifully kept place. Full kitchen and the most comfortable bed. Your own private bar with karaoke and the hot tub is ideal after a day of walking or with your breakfast prosecco! The views are stunning. They've thought of absolutely everything from wood-burn stoves to binoculars for bird-watching and board games to while away the evening. Make sure you visit the wood of cree which is about 20 minutes away for the most stunning walks and the queens way towards clatteringshaws. We can't wait to return!
