Tucked away alongside the unspoilt salt marshes of the North Norfolk coastal landscape, a listed site of Outstanding Natural Beauty with views of Cley windmill and village. This wonderful, detached, single-storey brick and flint cottage is full of character and charm, and is situated on a quiet, unmade lane located off the coastal road on the edge of the village of Cley next the Sea. Comfortably furnished, this holiday cottage boasts a woodburner, wooden floors, beams and an enclosed rear garden. Excellent bird watching opportunities, walking and cycling can be found direct from the doorstep. Cley next the Sea, ½ mile, has a shingle beach which can be accessed by footpath, and an eco-friendly visitor centre containing a cafe, shop and information centre for birds and wildlife of the salt marshes. An award-winning deli, cafes, art galleries, a pub, smoked fish house and windmill are within easy reach. Blakeney Quay is a 10-minute walk or a 2-minute drive away. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    Lovely cottage and garden. Good generous rooms, well furnished but not cluttered. The garden is well planted and pleasant to stay in, quite unusual in holiday houses. Excellent location in the most interesting part of the North Norfolk coast. Pleasant countryside away from the coast. The house was immaculate when we arrived and had a welcoming feel about it.

    The cottage was lovely and in a brilliant location. But why not make it clear in the description that there is no boundary between the side garden of the big house next door and the entire length of the cottage? All the rooms, apart from the kitchen are overlooked and anyone next door using the garden can walk up to the windows and look in. Next door's washing line is 3 feet away from the lounge window. We booked a detached property for privacy and quiet and feel misled.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your positive comments and I am disappointed that you feel this way. In the 25 plus years we have owned the property and known our neighbours this has never been an issue for us and our guests. The property is detached and undisturbed, and stands in a large plot on a private road. It shares a boundary with a rarely visited adjunct of our neighbour’s garden. When holidaying they have maintained their privacy and respected ours. I am sure they will continue to do so.

    We have stayed here several times, we love the location near 3 dog friendly pubs and the coast path and a bus stop. We had the worst weather we've ever had in years of staying in Norfolk, 4 days of it felt like November, but we still enjoyed it. The house is warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for us and our two dogs and a lovely garden. It's not secure enough for our dogs to be let out unaccompanied (they could easily go over the fences if something to chase appeared on the other side) but we prefer to watch where they go and pick up what they do, rather than hunt for it later, in any case! Only two small issues, the double mattress is getting a little dippy and the en suite bathroom floor is never warm. We have a similar system at home and our bathroom floor is warm to walk on. This never is, whatever temperature it is set to and however long it is on. We don't think it works properly.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. I am fitting a thick memory foam mattress topper this week to remove the ‘dippyness’. The underfloor heating in the bathroom works fine now. It may be worth pointing out that it is triggered by the air temperature so it may not feel warm if the room is at a comfortable temperature. It can easily be adjusted if required. Hopefully neither issue spoilt your stay too much but apologies anyway.
