Tucked away alongside the unspoilt salt marshes of the North Norfolk coastal landscape, a listed site of Outstanding Natural Beauty with views of Cley windmill and village. This wonderful, detached, single-storey brick and flint cottage is full of character and charm, and is situated down a private road, located off the coastal road on the edge of the village of Cley next the Sea. Comfortably furnished, this holiday cottage boasts a woodburner, wooden floors, beams and an enclosed rear garden. Excellent bird watching opportunities, walking and cycling can be found direct from the doorstep. The property is pet friendly, with an enclosed garden. Cley next the Sea, ½ mile, has a shingle beach which can be accessed by footpath, and an eco-friendly visitor centre containing a cafe, shop and information centre for birds and wildlife of the salt marshes. An award-winning deli, cafes, art galleries, a pub, smoked fish house and windmill are within easy reach. Blakeney Quay is a 10-minute walk or a 2-minute drive away. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    We have stayed in this cottage before and thought it was very good. Unfortunately during our stay last week it was not as clean . The bathrooms were in need of a more thorough clean. Limescale build up needs to be addressed. Good location and pretty garden.

    We had a lovely Christmas break at The Old Stables. The cottage offered everything we wanted it to. I was unsure whether there would be everything I needed for cooking a Christmas dinner but it didn't disappoint there was no more juggling of food in the oven/pots and pans anymore than there would have been at home. We got a lovely welcome to the cottage with a Christmas tree and beautiful wreath on the door along with wine and milk in the fridge. I woke up to the lovely view of Cley windmill every day and the opportunity of lovely walks with our dog to the beach. Lovely area to stay and a cosy cottage which never felt cold. The only suggestion I would make is the double bed could do with deeper sheets, the topper was great but it then made the sheets not fit the mattress, which if you are a wriggler in bed meant the sheets popped off. A good time was had by all, many thanks for the added touches of Christmas.

    A well equipped cottage , warm and well furnished. Great views to Cley Windmill and lots of good walks on the doorstep. Convenient location for Holt, Holkham, Cromer etc. Pretty garden and not overlooked . Despite the rain we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again.

    All the equipment and furniture in the cottage is of a high standard and it is very comfortable. The heating and water system are particularly good.

    Lovely cottage and garden. Good generous rooms, well furnished but not cluttered. The garden is well planted and pleasant to stay in, quite unusual in holiday houses. Excellent location in the most interesting part of the North Norfolk coast. Pleasant countryside away from the coast. The house was immaculate when we arrived and had a welcoming feel about it.

    The cottage was lovely and in a brilliant location. But why not make it clear in the description that there is no boundary between the side garden of the big house next door and the entire length of the cottage? All the rooms, apart from the kitchen are overlooked and anyone next door using the garden can walk up to the windows and look in. Next door's washing line is 3 feet away from the lounge window. We booked a detached property for privacy and quiet and feel misled.

In the 25 plus years we have owned the property and known our neighbours this has never been an issue for us and our guests. The property is detached and undisturbed, and stands in a large plot on a private road. It shares a boundary with a rarely visited adjunct of our neighbour’s garden. When holidaying they have maintained their privacy and respected ours. I am sure they will continue to do so.
