The Old Sawmill is a luxuriously appointed warm and cosy detached cottage within the tranquil location of a little Cornish village, tucked away off the beaten track, not suitable for long wheel base vehicles due to access restrictions. Formerly a working sawmill dating back to the 1800s, this lovely two double bedroom property features oak flooring and slate tiles. There is a modern contemporary wood burner in the living room, exposed beams with vaulted ceiling and great natural lighting. Offering a comfortable three seater sofa and wingback arm chair along with a dining table and four chairs and wooden blinds throughout. The bedrooms enjoy Egyptian cotton bed linen and there are big fluffy towels, waffle dressing gowns and hypo allergenic duvets. An initial supply of logs for the wood burner are included and a super welcome pack all goes to offer a spot of luxury to guests.
The ground floor bedroom has a zip and link kingsize bed which can be made into two single beds and has an en-suite shower room, whilst the upstairs bedroom has a kingsize bed with a double shower in the bathroom just across the hall. Mattresses are hand tailored in the UK and offer full body kinetic support with 2000 pocket springs. The cottage is situated in a quiet location, in a tiny village, but with good access onto the A38 and A390 making the cottage perfect for exploring the wider region of Cornwall. The friendly owners who live on-site, have a small studio/workshop and can offer one day courses during the summer (subject to availability) on Saturday’s or Sunday’s in making artisan handmade bread and small batch craft ales, these need to be booked in advance with the owners. All in all a lovely cottage for quiet couples and families looking for a little hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Carnglaze Caverns 10 minutes away, Eden Project 25 minutes and Bodmin Moor 15 minutes away. Looe and Polperro fishing villages and nearest beach is 25 minutes away. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

The cottage was very nice but only big enough for a couple not for families as advertised. We’ve stayed at many similar places in the area and never had to buy additional heating, we found that very odd! We were disappointed when our friends came to pick us up one evening and even though they were only there for 10 mins, they were asked to move their car, there is plenty of room for other cars, again it seemed odd! The stay for us was purely to see friends and family in Cornwall so this property served its purpose.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; The cottage has been inspected and approved by cottages.com to sleep 4 people. It has been fully furnished to accommodate a family or 2 couples. It has 2 bathrooms, 2 showers, seating for 5, and 2 bedrooms with king size beds of which 1 bed can become 2 single beds. We have had many families stay with us and they have been very happy with the cottage. We provide an initial supply of logs for the log burner, which is supplementary to the heating that was already on and is clear in the description prior to booking. This is quite common practice with many cottages on cottages.com We kindly asked our guests to move their visitors car back slightly as we needed to go out and it was blocking the driveway. We work very hard for our guests to enjoy their stay and are very approachable and easily contactable if any problems arise.

Me and my grandparents had a wonderful stay here. We arrived after a 3 hour journey and with the helpful directions from the owners and also google maps found this cottage with no issues. The access from the main road leads on to a narrow lane but there are plenty of pull in areas and I never had a problem. The actual cottage was amazing and you can tell a lot of thought and love has gone in to the place. The owners left us had a bottle of homemade beer, homemade bread and also some local fresh farm eggs to get our holiday started which was a lovely touch. We were extremely lucky with the weather here in October and had some lovely days out but really enjoyed coming back to the cottage on an evening to cook and relax. I love to cook and this kitchen had everything I could possibly need, I was very impressed as I had brought a few bits with me just in case but didn't need to. We all spent many a cosy night with the log burner a blaze and wrapped up in throws, it was so relaxing. If we needed anymore wood for the fire we just had to phone or text the owners who were happy to get supplies and we just needed to pop the money in an envelope and post it through their door as they live in the cottage opposite. My Nan commented every day how comfy the bed was and how she'd had some of the best nights sleep here. We visited a few local places; Looe and also Talland bay but also travelled further a field to The lost gardens of heligan and Port Isaac. By the end of the holiday my Gramp didn't want to leave which is always a good sign and I think he felt very at home here. I would definitely recommend this holiday cottage as we all had such an amazing break away.

Me and my partner stayed at the sunnyside for a week during September/October. This cottage is absolutely stunning, and is perfect for a relaxing time away. Jamie and Louise were very accommodating and gave us some gorgeous home made ale and bread. We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone wanting the perfect cornish time away.

Good location for getting out and about to explore the area, 1 hours drive got us to Eden Project, Falmouth, Port Issac and Dartmoor. After a full day out it was a pleasure to get the wood burner going and sit and relax in front of it's glow until it was time to get into the wonderfully comfortable beds. Had a great time and will certainly contemplate coming back again.

Lovely well-appointed property but too small for 2 couples. Also access was difficult so we didn't go out in the evenings, which was disappointing.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. Access in and out of the property is a bit tight for very large cars although still very manageable if you go slowly. Once onsite there are two car parking spaces. The cottage is fully equipped for four people. The two bedrooms have king size beds and there are two bathrooms. There is a large 3-seater settee and an armchair as well as four more dining chairs in the lounge diner. We think the pictures show a true reflection of the property.

Wonderful place to explore Cornwall from. The cottage is a conversion of an old saw mill and the character of the building really came through. All of the facilities were top notch and the decor was wonderfully homely. You could even get fast broadband which was a life saver with a young child at times. Couldn't praise this place and the host Jamie enough. He gave some great tips on where to go and do photography and was always on hand whenever we had questions. Would highly recommend a stay.
