Description

Perfect for a quiet romantic getaway, a great place to get away for the weekend, and is centrally based for exploring the whole of Norfolk.

This holiday property is set within the grounds of Yaxham House, the owner’s home, the Georgian Grade II listed former rectory that served the parish of Yaxham. The Old Rectory Lodge is a wing of the former rectory. The property has been furnished in a contemporary style and decorated to create a light and airy feel that complements the character of the former rectory, and is perfect for a quiet romantic getaway. It enjoys an attractive and secluded setting approached by a private road and drive adjacent to the parish church of St Peters. Offering a warm welcome at any time of the year, it is a perfect base for exploring all that the area has to offer.

The Mid Norfolk Railway (MNR) is ½ mile away with trips available from Yaxham to Wymondham Abbey and Dereham. Dereham, 2 miles, offers an indoor swimming pool, cinema, bowling, shops, supermarkets and a market on Tuesdays and Fridays. The property lies within an hour’s drive of the coast, with excellent sandy beaches and RSPB nature and bird reserves. The Norfolk Broads, the Brecks (and its stone curlews), Peddars Way, Norfolk Coastal Path and many National Trust properties are also easily accessible.

The village is at the centre of a network of footpaths and there is a children’s play area and recreation ground close to the church. From the nearby bus stop, regular bus services go to Dereham and Norwich. Shop and restaurant ½ mile, pub 1 mile.

Can be booked with The Old Rectory Coach House (ref CTX) to accommodate up to 7 guests.

Wonderful holiday in a delightful cottage. It is comfortable, well equipped and very relaxing. Best cottage I’ve ever stayed in for the things that were provided, including the welcome pack. We had great weather and found the location excellent for being able to reach most places such as the Coast or Broads, easily.

Enjoyed a very peaceful week at Old Rectory Lodge. Very convenient for visiting various places in Norfolk being quite centrally placed and near to the A47.

A lovely, tranquil retreat. We wanted a few days of peace, quiet and privacy all of which we found here. We also wanted somewhere dog friendly, and again this place was perfect. The personal touches were great; a bowl of fresh water and jar of doggy treats were waiting and a basket of dog blankets and towels were by the back door just for him. A box of eggs, pack of biscuits, coffee, fresh pint of milk and a chilled bottle of wine were all waiting for us. The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped and the enclosed private garden, with pond and fountain, was perfect for just sitting relaxing in. We'd definitely come back for a few days "escape" from the modern world and think our dog would like to join us again :-)

This property is easily the best we have stayed at, magnificent. A lovely welcoming bottle of wine, eggs, milk etc etc was left for us, a very nice touch..... especially the wine ! Spotlessy clean throughout with lovely extras such as wall art and all the required mod cons. We had wonderful weather so was nice to BBQ in the enclosed garden and waking up and feeding the koi carp was another highlight. Thanks for a wonderful stay and everychance we will re use in the future.

Lovely lodge ! A very warm welcome from Sue with a bottle of wine & fresh eggs from her own hens ! Even our dog had fresh water in a bowel on arrival and a doggy blanket to lay I front of the fire on. The Lodge itself is absolutely immaculate and tastefully decorated with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. The bed is the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in (infact we are going to now buy the same mattress) ! The power shower was a great treat after a long walk in the country. The coast is 40min drive and so is the Sandringham estate. We shall definitely pop back for another relaxing weekend. Thank you both :)
