A lovely, character-filled cottage in the heart of the Dales and only a 5-7 minute drive to nearby Hawes (a fantastic town to visit). Bainbridge itself is a beautiful small village with a small collection of homes a hotel, tearooms and a general store which is part of the care home. The Old Post Office sits along side the river Bain, which the private back garden area overlooks. This is a great area for sitting out to relax and catching the sun with a cool drink, listening to the river run by. The cottage is spacious and well equipped, with two very large king/superking bedrooms and one slightly smaller twin bedroom (although still amply big enough for comfort!). Despite it's history and age, the cottage been nicely converted and provides a wonderful country atmosphere to the holiday. the sitting room overlooks the village green, and there is a nearby playpark and football field which is fantastic for kids, or kids at heart. :) The dining room/table converts into a small 8 ball/snooker room/table which added to the fun of our evenings and provided another unexpected dimension to our get away. We really loved our stay here and there is very little negative to say about our entire experience. We would happily come back here for a future stay and would recommend it to others looking for a place to stay to explore the Yorkshire Dales! The only two points worth mentioning for awareness are: - The doorway from the kitchen into the dining room has low headroom and you need to duck a bit to enter it. Forget to duck and you're quickly reminded by a bump to the head. :) - There is a step from the kitchen up into the living area. We all tripped up it once during our stay but again, like the low doorway, you quickly learn. However both of these points are to be expected with this type of property (given it's age and history) and only adds to the charm and character of this beautiful country cottage.

We stayed here as a couple so had plenty of room. The living-room was a good size and comfortably furnished, and the kitchen was well-equipped. The bedrooms were large and airy with nice furniture and bed linen, and the bathroom’s a good size too. Wi-fi was good. We loved the little garden and sitting at the bottom of it, overlooking the river. Bainbridge is an excellent base for touring and a charming village to stay in. The pub is a short walk across the green one way and the tearoom an even shorter walk the other way. There you can buy superb cakes and snacks, either takeaway or sitting inside or out. In Askrigg a mile or so away, The Bake-Away has similar quality food and is definitely recommended, as is The King’s Arms for food. We would happily stay at the Old Post Office again having thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay in June.

Good sized house with everything you need, in an excellent location. Nice and quiet at night and a nice seating area overlooking the river. Only problem would be if all three bedrooms were in use (booking for six people), there is only one loo.
