Greengage is a romantic hideaway enjoying a private and peaceful location within a sheep grazed orchard and sharing its surroundings with another holiday property, Russet (CC245031). The accommodation is all on one level, has an open plan layout and includes a wood burner in the lounge and picturesque views from its patio. Skipsea’s sandy beach, two pubs, a restaurant and shops are just under a mile, and the local leisure park’s gym and indoor swimming pool are two miles.

Further up the coast there are the traditional seaside resorts of Bridlington and Scarborough. Bempton Cliffs bird reserve is well worth a visit where you will see puffins, guillemots and seals in their natural habitat. It’s a perfect base to see what Yorkshire has to offer from the North York Moors to the east coast and The Wolds there’s so much to see and do. York, Scarborough and Pickering are about an hour’s drive. Sledmere House is just one of many stately homes you can visit as well as Sewerby Hall and Burton Agnes Hall, all close by. For evening entertainment there’s plenty in Bridlington with The Spa hosting International shows all year round.
Greengage can be booked together with Russet (CC245031) to accommodate up to four guests.

A lovely, cozy cottage in a quiet location. We were given a very warm, in person welcome by the owners and a lovely welcome pack including milk and lots of yummy goodies! We didn't find much to do locally on cold, wet November days, but enjoyed walks along the proms at Hornsea, Withernsea & Filey despite the dreadful weather. We also visited Spurn National Nature Reserve which is worth a visit. We enjoyed really good fish & chips from the local chippy in Beeford and ate out at a local pub one night which was ok but nothing special. There seems to be very few restaurants locally other than Fish & Chip restaurants in Hornsea so if, like us, you like to eat out, be prepared to have to travel at least 20-30 minutes or more for anything more than fish & chips or basic bar food. However if you self-cater then you couldn't want for a more well equipped kitchen and there's a Tesco supermarket in nearby Hornsea. Just one tip, a yorchbis useful when arriving in the dark as there's a step up from the car parking area onto the path to the front door and the outside light doesn't come on till you get close to the door. But all in all we enjoyed our stay.
