from source to estuary. Historically, it is generally regarded as the birthplace of modern fly fishing. This area is also where the yesteryear TV programme ‘Wurzle Gummidge’ was filmed.

The Meeting Hall offers immaculately presented, light and airy open plan living/dining/kitchen area, tastefully decorated and furnished with relaxing tones, practical tiled flooring and high ceilings. This lovely holiday home is an ideal country escape and the perfect place to explore the historic cities of Winchester, 9 miles, Salisbury, 18 miles, and the maritime city of Southampton, 16 miles.

The nearest town is Stockbridge, 3 miles, with its abundance of independent specialist shops including tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, many serving local produce, as well as art galleries, craft and gift shops, clothing and traditional butchers. The prosperous market town of Romsey is 7 miles, and being the larger of the two towns, it has all of the above and more. Romsey also has an independent department store, supermarket and a magnificent Norman Abbey dating back to 907AD. Just outside the town and set in extensive parkland is the 18th century mansion of Broadlands, the former home of Lord Palmerston and the late Lord Louis Mountbatten. Broadlands is open to the public July and August, as well as hosting a range of shows, concerts and events throughout the year. Other places to visit within an hours drive include Hillier’s Arboretum, Stonehenge, Wheyhill Hawk Conservancy, The Army Flying Museum, Thruxton Races, Wilton House, Highclere Castle, The New Forest, Beaulieu Abbey and Motor Museum, Marwell Zoo, Portsmouth Dockyard and the beautiful beaches of the South Coast including Bournemouth, Boscombe and Mudeford. A thoroughly enjoyable week. The owners have gone to great lengths to provide what is needed and at a high spec. Hot tub was great. Very nice after a day’s walking. Welcome pack of eggs, milk, wine, jams and shortbread biscuits was very well received. Will definitely be coming again.

We had a great stay. Sharon and Wayne were very welcoming. The decor was lovely and the equipment good quality. The village was delightful. The cottage is in a great location with lots of things to see and do within a short distance. We very much appreciated the pint of milk in the fridge on arrival so we could have a cuppa before heading to the supermarket and the complimentary bottle of wine was even more appreciated! We loved the hot tub and we will be telling our friends about the Old Meeting Hall. Thanks.

We had a delightful few days in Kings Somborne. The area is lovely and perfect for our needs. The accomodation is great and all the little touches really topped it off (minature conserves, red wine, robes/slippers etc.). The hot tub is great, a lovely size and well kept. Had a strange tendency to produce quite the number of bubbles but turning the jets down a little helped!

Lovely well equipped accomodation in a small village. Lovely local pub and a couple of shops that sell virtually everything that you need. Ideal for walking but not good for public transport. Ideal as a quiet getaway.

Very nice little cottage, smaller than others we have rented on this site. Very well kitted out and clean. I felt it lacked privacy a bit as you are sharing the site with the owner. Would visit again as the location is excellent.

Absolutely wonderful weekend away at the old meeting hall. Facilities are extensive and modern but the cottage has a really rustic and cosy feel. The hot tub is a wonderful added extra
