Scarborough and Bridlington are nearby, and the RSPB Bird Sanctuary with kittiwakes, guillemots, puffins and gannets, just 3 miles. York, just under an hour away by car, is worth a visit. Here guests can walk the city walls, visit the railway museum, the minster and shambles with its designer boutique shops. For those who enjoy the countryside, the North York Moors and Wolds are not too far away. The Cleveland Way and Wolds Way walks are a few minutes away. The Old Chapel is a fantastic base to see Yorkshire at its best. Shops 4 miles.

Had an amazing weekend in the cottage! The only thing would be the mattress’s on the single beds, wasn’t very comfortable. But over all I would stay there again and recommend to anyone!

Very spacious, well equipped, lots to do in the area. The only problem I found was that I found the original 'Chapel windows' a bit claustrophobic after a while .... I found that I wanted to see out! The Kitchen and upstairs windows have some clear glass, which was fine. Overall a lovely week, thanks

Beautifully restored chapel. A little bit remote. Unless you want a really good walk you have to get in the car for everything. The pub at the island has lovely home cooked food. Good central location between filey (5 miles) and Bridlington(5 miles). The chapel was lovely and clean . The bed was really comfy perhaps the best bed we have had whilst holidaying. I walk with crutches and was offered a ramp but managed as the 2 steps were quite shallow. I suspect if you are like me or in a wheelchair you would have trouble bathing as the bath is deep and the shower has a shower tray that I could not step up. Do not go hoping for a walk in shower. The sitting room is grand but comfy and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay as did our dog. Would have liked a bit enclosed by the door so the dog could go out without being on her lead all the time but there is a nice garden with a table and chairs. Great to have parking close to the door. All in all a lovely place to stay.

a very nice special cottage with everything you need. greeted by welcome treats. owner was very nice. obly problems: bathroom is pretty mouldy and could do with some renovating, see shower; cottage is in the middle of nowhere and some people seen to think it is Tourist attraction and just come in and wander around the house trying the doors, quite scary at 9 pm...

This was our first time at the Old Chapel and we really enjoyed our stay, we were four adults staying here and it was ideal accommodation for us. if you had young children it could do with a bit more garden to play in, all in all we loved it. Terry & Maria Newmarket

A fabulous place to stay, beautifully renovated to a high standard, very peaceful. The chapel has a well equipped kitchen which was great. A piano was one of the highlights for our daughter who cheerfully plonked away at the keys. Very good WiFi has been put in should you want to check in with the outside world or just google the nearest shops. A lovely welcome pack had been left for us including something for our dog who also enjoyed her break at the old chapel You will need to have transport staying here but for us the remote location was a plus, Filey and brid were only 6 miles away in either direction some fabulous beaches near by, we recommend Fraisthorpe if you want quiet and fossils. Speeton Beach is nice if you can get to it, it’s a fair walk down (and up!) a very steep cliff so don’t try if you have a health condition. We will very likely booking again as it really was the perfect place to stay, thank you for a lovely holiday.
