The vast place we’ve ever stayed at if you like a peaceful holiday with easy access to a wide variety of things to do. Can’t wait to go again

High expectations sadly not met. Cleaning was not up to standard at all. Cobwebs everywhere ? drinking straw on the floor. Hot tub maintenance was expected to be carried out by ourself daily. Such a shame! Local pub was closed when we were there also. Place generally needed a good scrub. Bed was broken causing bad back ache ( we didn’t know it was broke until checking under the bed when leaving!) so much potential I hurt leaving this poor review.

Stayed there two years ago and the place was clean and in good condition, this time the shower was mouldy, all freezer drawers had crumbs in. Several coasters dirty, two radiators very dirty, as well as the kettle, the lounge rug had grey hairs, a fingernail and again crumbs on and also under the sofa. Also water damaged areas not redecorated.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Very sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay this year. No excuses for the cottage to be dirty, we have had the same cleaner for two years now, I have shown her the review and she was very upset she had missed so many things. The water damage by the bathroom door was from a radiator leaking which needs to dry out completely before painting again.

A lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Great coastal walks with amazing views just nearby. A pub and restaurant within short walking distance of the cottage, we ate meals at both establishments, tasty and plenty of choice. It was fantastic to be able to relax in the hot tub, overlooking the sea, after a busy day sightseeing. Highly recommend this cottage.

We visited the old boathouse in mid-June and enjoyed every minute. Set in an environment which was both relaxing and beautiful. The cottage itself was well laid out and although far from big, was comfortable for the three of us (two adults and an 18 month old). The view from the front of Portland Bill is stunning and from the back it looks out at fields. There was plenty of room for the little one to run around in and for the adults the hot tub was very relaxing. The local pub seemed to have fairly inconsistent opening times, however it was technically out of season and there were alternative venues to eat and drink in close proximity, also the bus stop was only a 30 minute walk away. Very much recommended and we will probably return again.

We enjoyed our stay at the boat house. The property was a lovely detached property with splendid views over Portland Bill. Hot tub was once of the nicest hot tubs we have been in. We did struggle with the spiral staircase as it is extremely narrow and very difficult to take your luggage up the stairs. Also, the bed was troublesome to get in and out of due to the low beams. Portland is very pretty but other than walking there isn't a great deal to do, we went to Weymouth a few times, but other than that the next large town was around an additional 30 minutes drive.

A sweet little cottage in a unique and breathtakingly beautiful location. My partner and I have now stayed here a couple of times, it’s a very relaxing location where you can enjoy the amazing views and unwind and de-stress in this ‘slower paced’ location and area!

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful coastal location. By far the best view from a hot tub we've ever had! Just one word of warning - the spiral staircase is very narrow so if you have any mobility issues it wouldn't be suitable. We visited out of season so most things are closed on Portland and the surrounding areas. Do not let this put you off though we found some fantastic coastal walks in the area. Dorset is a fantastic place to visit; we will definitely be back soon!

A fantastic little gem less than a minutes walk from the coasts of Portland bill. Perfect for 2 couples, and the care and pride that goes into the upkeep of this cottage is more than evident. Great communication with the owner / agent, the cottage exceeded our expectations.

We have never been to Portland and saw the old boat house so we decided to book it for four nights. The cottage is on it’s own,set back from the sea giving it a great view around the coast and of the lighthouse. The cottage covered all our needs although the spiral staircase is tight it the best way to get upstairs. We used both the binoculars and telescope to watch the wildlife and the world go by. The hot tub was great and the information pack was excellent. We went in November and although the amenities were limited the coastal walks gave us loads to do.
