This property is part of our English Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

This stunning property is a real treat for history lovers. It boasts interesting features, up-to-date conveniences and a pizza oven in the garden.

The Manor House, part of which dates back to the 1800s with much of the property alot older, has been thoughtfully restored to retain much of its period charm, with interesting features throughout. This period property has all the up-to-date conveniences that discerning guests require for their perfect getaway. In the dining room, you can still see the old butler bells that were used to summon ‘the help’ in days gone by. There are also traditional open fires and a wood burner to relax by, yet the feel of this beautiful property is still modern, fresh and very light and airy. With lots of places to relax in, you may be tempted to stay home, but if you do head out, you will find lots of great places to explore. In under 15 minutes you can be at bracing Brancaster beach, great for sunbathing in summer and walking in winter. Head east to Holkham beach, which was featured in Shakespeare in Love, and the popular village of Wells-next-the-Sea with its picturesque quay, narrow gauge railway and quaint mix of artisan and traditional seaside shops, cafés and amusements. Further along the coast lies Blakeney, Cley, Sheringham and Cromer with its famous Edwardian promenade and pier.

Pretty coastal villages, many of which offer artisan shops and great places to eat, salt marshes and beaches can be found to the west. The Victorian town of Hunstanton, with it’s famous stripy cliffs, has a beach that really does seem to go on forever and here you will find a small funfair, Sealife Centre and lots of traditional seaside amusements. Aptly named ‘Royal Norfolk’ has lots of stately homes and National Trust properties, including The Sandringham Estate, Peckover House and Gardens, Holkham Hall and Blickling Hall. History lovers should try to squeeze in a visit to the medieval city of Norwich, with it’s magnificent Norman castle and numerous museums, or perhaps visit the hanseatic quarter of Old Kings Lynn, which offers historical tours and, for the brave, ghost walks. There are many opportunities for bird watching at Titchwell Marsh, Scolt Head Island and Cley Marshes, and lots of great cycling routes and beautiful coastal walks. The surrounding area has lots of great places to eat out, many of which serve fresh local produce, but those wishing for a relaxing night in will be spoilt for choice too, with a state of the art kitchen and a pizza oven in the grounds. The Manor House has great places to dine either al fresco or by the wood burner, so foodies and casual diners alike will be delighted that they chose to stay at this stunning property. Beach 10 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 20 yards.

The Manor House is a beautiful and comfortable property, spacious and very well equipped and appointed. Very nice touches, like toiletries, dressing gowns, slippers, and a nice food parcel including bottles of prosecco and beer. Naomi (the owner) visited the evening we arrived and was quick to address a couple of minor issues such as light bulbs not working and the washing machine door which had been broken by the previous tenants (it was already booked for repair, and indeed was repaired the day after we arrived). I only have a couple of minor niggles; one was a lack of storage in some of the bedrooms (eg. no drawer space) which seemed odd given that the rooms were all easily large enough to accommodate a chest of drawers! Also, in the kitchen, the crockery/glass/cutlery supply was more than ample, but we did note a lack of large pans, which was strange given that the house sleeps 16. The largest saucepan was only just big enough for one packet of pasta. There was a large heavy wok and some Le Creuset cookware but none of this could be used on the induction hob, only the Aga, and it was very heavy to lift. Minor issues though - it's a lovely property and I'm sure anyone holidaying there will have a great week! We visited the nearby pub (Lydd Arms) a couple of times including once for dinner. They were very friendly, although because we were such a big group we had to pre-order our food 1-2 days which took a bit of organisation.

Excellent house for a few families holidaying together. Lots of room , plenty of bathrooms and really nice courtyard area at the rear . The owners could not do enough to welcome and help us before and during the visit. They were excellent Both Tesco’s and Waitrose deliver so we used the fantastic kitchen to cook in and ate outside . A week just wasn’t like long enough !!

The house was stunning and suitable for out large family. A lot of thought has gone into the refurbishment to make it easy for 15 people of differing ages to enjoy a week together. My only complaints were the second fridge in the kitchen did not work a few room doors did not close or were difficult to open and there were only 11 side plates for a house that takes 16. Simple to remedy and I would give it an 11 if done so.

We had a great time staying here - the house itself was lovely but we had an issue with the heating and hot water because a gas delivery hadn't arrived. Had this not been the case we would have scored this a 10 overall. The owner was fantastic and did everything they could to get us hot water, even to the extent of buying us extra kettles so we could give the toddlers their baths a bit easier (instead of boiling water in the kitchen and running it upstairs). They gave us extra wood for the fires as well and it really did feel like they did everything they possibly could to sort the issue. We intend to go back to either this house or one of the owner's other houses though as they were lovely, large and very well equipped. There is also a pool table and table football in the courtyard which I think is missing from the description on this site and probably should be added in!
