Enjoy a glass of wine whilst looking out for porpoises or dolphins which are frequently sighted here. The town’s historical past is well worth exploring, visit Arbroath Abbey, best known for being the origin of the Declaration of Arbroath or sample the famous ’smokies’, available down by the bustling harbour. Pay a visit to the Signal Tower Museum with its history of Arbroath lighthouse keepers. Inland, the Angus Glens beckon the keen walker, while golfers are spoilt for choice, with many courses in the vicinity, not to mention Carnoustie’s famous links. Nearby is historic Montrose, RSPB Montrose Basin and The National Trust for Scotland property, House of Dun. Shop 2 miles, pub 1½ and restaurant 300 yards.
