Visit England ROSE award winner 2018
Set on the outskirts of one of Worcestershire’s most beautiful villages, Elmley Castle, nestling below the northern slopes of Bredon Hill in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Lodge at Elmley Meadow is situated on a small holding with sheep and chickens, and is attached to the discreet and friendly owners’ home, with views to Bredon Hill. With a cosy open plan living, dining and kitchen area with a wood burner to relax in front of on a chilly evening, a downstairs double bedroom and shower room and a large private courtyard to enjoy eating al fresco. It is an ideal property for all the family including your four-legged friends, who have use of an enclosed field in the owners’ grounds. The property is on an 18-mile cycle route known as ’around the hill’ which encircles Bredon Hill and goes through local villages, there are several footpaths in the area, including one which starts at the property, at the end of the drive.
The village of Elmley Castle has a beautiful tree lined main street with many black and white and old red brick cottages, with a pub at the end which is only half a mile from the lodge. The 11th-century Norman and Medieval castle, where the village derives its name, has long since disappeared but the earthworks still remain in the nearby deer park. The nearby market towns of Pershore and Evesham have a range of shops, restaurants and pubs and are only 3 and 5 miles away, and can also be accessed by the local bus route which departs from outside the village pub.
Within 8 miles you can find yourself in the Cotswolds where you can visit beautiful towns and villages including Broadway, 8 miles, Moreton-in-Marsh, 17 miles, and Stow-on-the-Wold, 19 miles, where you can find quaint high streets and fantastic eateries. There is so much more to discover close by including the cathedral city of Worcester, 13 miles, the historic riverside town of Tewkesbury, 13 miles, the Malverns, with their magnificent hills and popular festival theatre, 19 miles, and the regency town of Cheltenham made famous from its horse racing festivals, 18 miles. Shop 3½ miles, pub and restaurants ½ mile.

The Lodge at Elmley Meadow is 10*. The layout is very good, all rooms are spacious & large with plenty of cupboards & wardrobe space. Empire bed in the ground floor bedroom & extra large single beds in the other bedrooms all very comfortable, clean & fresh smell. Kitchen is well stocked. No negatives. It was just what we required peace, quiet & relaxation, stayed from 11/06 until 18/06/2018. The Lodge, is in a good walking & cycling area, besides being in a good location for all the tourist areas.

We booked Elmley Meadow for 4 nights, the cottage is very clean and comfortable. We were welcomed by Andrew, everything was very well thought out, from homemade bread, milk, eggs from their own chickens to dog treats awaits us. Leaflets regarding places of interest was very helpful. We would highly recommend to friends and family.

A fantastic few days at the Lodge. The owners have made a very comfortable home to let. No stone left unturned with first class amenities. We loved our stay there and appreciated the work put into it. Only downside was oil radiators that plugged in as the main heating, though I think that is being addressed by the owners. In fairness to them the village does not have gas! Will go back if the opportunity presents it self.

Andy and Emma are wonderful hosts, this is the best equipped place I have booked. There is nothing the owners have not thought of from leaving a dog bowl and some treats for our dogs, to hotel touches like rolled towels and a chocolate on our bed, fresh eggs from their chickens and a loaf of bread and milk. The lodge is finished to an high standard. And the enclosed garden for the dogs were a huge bonus. There is a lovely local pub highly recommmended and the guest information folder left for guests is so helpful. There were even suggested walks which we did. I would definitely recommend to friends and family and would love to re visit one day.
