The Lodge was comfortable and well equipped. Our hosts were very pleasant. It was well situated for visiting Cambridge, Bury and Ely (Ely is beautiful) as well as other places around. Another bin bag for the kitchen bin would have been helpful. A pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Situated in the grounds of the owners home The Lodge is a lovely little hideaway without feeling in the middle of nowhere. The owner contacted us a few days in advance with key details etc and we had no problems accessing the property which is situated on the outskirts of Haverhill. It felt like a home from home for us. Well equipped kitchen, with dishwasher and washing machine. Plenty of cutlery and crockery and spacious enough not to be bumping into each other. Table and chairs for dining. Bathroom has a shower and a bath(if you fancy a soak) Living area was very well furnished with a sofa and a recliner chair, nest of tables, and a larger table should you wish to dine in this room instead of the kitchen. This lead into a small conservatory which was a delight to sit in and watch the wildlife. We felt very comfortable, and relaxed with the expected noise from the road not noticeable at all. The only problem we encountered was the weak wi-fi signal that dropped in and out. Very fast and efficient when connected but requires a better booster. There is a large supermarket with petrol station just a couple of minutes drive away(it can be reached via a delightful walk around the lake opposite the property), with the main town under 10 minutes drive. The village of Withersfield is a 5 minute drive away with a pub on the far outskirts. No pavements so a car is essential as the road is very bendy and we would not have wanted to walk. All-in-all we enjoyed our stay at The Lodge and would recommend it as both a base to explore the local area, and as a place to relax.
