A spacious detached cottage located by a beck in a quiet village. A great base for exploring both the Lakes and the Dales.

Attractively positioned with the local beck running alongside and accessed over a quaint, little stone bridge, this charming stone detached cottage is centrally located within the quiet rural community of Hartley. It enjoys an attractive, well-maintained, enclosed terraced garden. This pretty, small village is surrounded by the unspoilt and stunning countryside of the Eden Valley and Wainwright’s ’Coast to Coast’ walk runs through the village. There are excellent walks from the doorstep ranging from pretty riverside strolls to more energetic fell walking. The house has been tastefully renovated to a very good standard and provides a charming mix of traditional and contemporary style, making good use of the space and light to enhance both indoor and outdoor living. The traditional market town of Kirkby Stephen is a pleasant, short walk away, and has a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The Eden Valley is perfectly placed between the Dales and the Lakes and this lovely holiday home is ideal for families and friends exploring one of the most beautiful corners of England. Idyllic. Would love to be snowed in there. 7 of us stayed for 4 nights to celebrate a 50th birthday. Had a brilliant time. Plenty of room and the cottage is very well equipped. Loved the kitchen. 15 minute walk into the town where there are pubs and shops. Lovely location. Very quiet. Everyone we met was very friendly. Will definately stay again

We booked this accommodation for my daughters 30th and what a brilliant find. The house was spacious and really well equipped. We were able to walk into the town- even my 88 year old dad could manage the walk. The town is lovely with lots of nice eating places in traditional pubs. We would recommend this house to anyone looking for a special weekend away.

Really lovely cottage and garden. A few minor maintenance issues with downstairs shower room taps loose and patio doors not very secure. Stayed for my dads 60th birthday celebrations which was enjoyed by everyone. Kirby Stephen a short walk away with a good Indian and Chinese. Great location and exactly what we wanted.

Had a wonderful time at the Larches - we were four adults, a stroppy teenager and three younger children and there was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is huge and well equipped and the living room is cosy with big TV. There are three bathrooms as well as one loo by the utility room so there was no battling for the bathroom. The setting is lovely in a small village, just 15 minutes walk from the town of Kirkby Stephen, which has supermarket, small shops and plenty of pubs (If you like gin - go to The Pennine, they have 71 sorts). There is a concrete path between the village and Kirkby Stephen so you will not need to worry if it's raining. Everyone was so friendly in the town. The area is in between the Yorkshire Dales, Pennines and Lake District. When arriving it is easy to miss the bridge and is not suitable for large vehicles, however about 100 metres before the house there is a grass verge (by bus stop) where cars can park. Do NOT park on the road outside the neighbour's opposite as he seems to think he owns the road there and is not pleasant. The other neighbours were very friendly and chatty - especially an elderly couple next door, who helped us with the many questions we had. There is a notice in the house about keeping noise down and respecting the neighbours' peace - so it is important to follow this for everyone's peace of mind. I would 100% stay here again! N.B - there is no Wifi and the village is in a shadow for many phone providers - which proved to be a marvellous detox for us all!
