Description

With a cosy woodburner and enclosed garden, this wonderful barn conversion is a fantastic year-round holiday location.

The Landings Cottage is a beautiful barn conversion attached to the owner’s property. It is set in a spectacular rural location with the River Ouse flowing freely through the garden and with free onsite fishing literally on the doorstep. There is also mooring for one boat available by arrangement with the owner. The cottage has been meticulously furnished with attention to detail making it a pleasure to return home after a day out discovering the area. For those of you who like to include the family pet on your holiday, there is a kennel available.

This property is perfect whatever the season. The comfortably furnished living room with beamed ceiling has a wood burning stove making it cosy and warm for those cold winter nights. The traditionally styled kitchen and dining area has all the necessary amenities. An Aga is available for use during the winter months taking the stress out of cooking a hearty evening meal after a day out exploring the countryside. For those of you who can’t get enough of the outdoors, there is a beautiful continentally styled enclosed garden with views over the countryside. The garden has a barbecue and undercover seating area where you can relax in the evenings with a glass of your favourite wine. When you wish to retire for the night, there are two double bedrooms with beamed ceilings. The larger bedroom has a kingsize bed and benefits from air conditioning giving you that perfect room temperature throughout the night. Both bedrooms have a television and en-suite facilities enabling guests to enjoy their own space.

The Landings Cottage is a stunning property in an area which has something for everyone. The route 65 cycle road is at the end of the lane and the historic city of York is just 7 miles away with its exquisite architecture and ancient cobbled streets. The 13th century gothic cathedral, York Minster, is well worth a visit.

Not used to a log burner and the heating system, so it took a while to master it. Also there was an issue with the boiler so no hot water the first morning. To be fair Deidre soon resolved it and was fine afterwards. Despite the poor weather we had a great time there. It was reasonably close to a good Retail Park with plenty of eating places. It was also close to a Park & Ride which we used to visit the towns Christmas Market. Good enclosed rear garden space although our dog would have preferred some grass within it, but that's a minor point. Despite some initial setbacks here, we had a great time with many extras and supplies that made some special touches, particularly for the dog. Great walk along the river but do bring wellies (essential in the winter). Deirdre was very helpful and friendly. She'd even put up Christmas decorations - a lovely touch.

Lovely little place tucked away on the outskirts of York. Very close to the river with some lovely walks. The cottage itself was very well presented and has everything you need for a quiet, comfy and relaxing getaway. The local village has a couple of very nice pubs and is 5 minutes drive away, York is approximately 7 miles. This is a Great location if your taking your dog.

The Landings is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Well equipped with all the essentials and some extras such as towels for the dogs. Lovely walks from the cottage and nearby as well as only a short distance into York.

It is a very nice cottage but was not as clean as it should have been. A lot of cobwebs. Some of the plates and bowls were chipped. Front and back doors were awkward to open and close . The owner was told about these things but not very helpful.
