With a cosy woodburner and enclosed garden, this wonderful barn conversion is a fantastic year-round holiday location.

In the heart of the small village of Beningbrough, this delightful barn conversion, attached to the owners’ home, has been converted to provide character and charm with its stone and oak floors, original exposed beams and a country style kitchen with an Aga. French doors from the living room lead to a Mediterranean style garden with a dining area, perfect for dining al fresco and lazy summer days, whilst cooler evenings can be enjoyed curled up by the wood-burner, making this an ideal year-round holiday location. A scenic stroll along the riverside leads to Beningbrough Hall, a Baroque mansion with portraits from the National Portrait Gallery, a glorious walled garden, ancient trees and hidden wildlife. The farm shop and café sells home reared and local produce, and serves home cooked meals. The neighbouring village of Newton-on-Ouse, 2 miles, has two popular pubs. The historic city of York is 7 miles away from the cottage, and is easily accessible from the Rawcliffe park and ride. Visitors can enjoy the world renowned sights including the iconic minster, Clifford’s Tower and the National Railway Museum. The cobbled streets are lined with ancient buildings, museums, art galleries and quaint traditional tea shops. The surrounding area offers numerous interesting days out. Visit the elegant spa town of Harrogate, the World Heritage Site at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, or drive out to the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. Charming walks by the river and surrounding fields start from the doorstep and the Route 65 cycle road is located at the end of the lane. Bicycles can be stored in the owner’s garage, by pre-arrangement. The River Ouse is part of the cottage garden and is only 300 yards away from the back door, where guests can enjoy freshwater fishing free of charge, no licence is required. Mooring for 1 boat is available by arrangement. Shop 1/2 mile, pub 2 miles and restaurant 1 mile.

Lovely, comfortable property in a great location. A great place to spend Christmas with a lovely log fire. High quality fixtures and finishes.

Not used to a log burner and the heating system, so it took a while to master it. Also there was an issue with the boiler so no hot water the first morning. To be fair Deidre soon resolved it and was fine afterwards. Despite the poor weather we had a great time there. It was reasonably close to a good Retail Park with plenty of eating places. It was also close to a Park & Ride which we used to visit the towns Christmas Market. Good enclosed rear garden space although our dog would have preferred some grass within it, but that's a minor point. Despite some initial setbacks here, we had a great time with many extras and supplies that made some special touches, particularly for the dog. Great walk along the river but do bring wellies (essential in the winter). Deirdre was very helpful and friendly. She'd even put up Christmas decorations - a lovely touch.

Lovely little place tucked away on the outskirts of York. Very close to the river with some lovely walks. The cottage itself was very well presented and has everything you need for a quiet, comfy and relaxing getaway. The local village has a couple of very nice pubs and is 5 minutes drive away, York is approximately 7 miles. This is a Great location if your taking your dog.

The Landings is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Well equipped with all the essentials and some extras such as towels for the dogs. Lovely walks from the cottage and nearby as well as only a short distance into York.

It is a very nice cottage but was not as clean as it should have been. A lot of cobwebs. Some of the plates and bowls were chipped. Front and back doors were awkward to open and close . The owner was told about these things but not very helpful.
