The Farmhouse Retreat is a newly renovated stone cottage with stylish character in the village of Tywardreath (pronounced “Taow-dreth”). It blends period features with modern decor and appliances. Local shops and pubs are a short walk away; Par Beach is under 10 minutes on foot and dog friendly year-round. Nearby are Carlyon Bay and Polkerris (great eateries), varied stretches of the South West Coast Path, and the seaside town of Fowey. Paddle-boarding at Golant is close by. Also worth visiting: Polruan, Charlestown, the Eden Project, and north-coast spots like Newquay, Padstow and Perranporth; the Roseland Heritage Coast is under 30 minutes west.
Inside, the homely living room has chic styling, generous sofas and a log burner, plus family board games, children’s DVDs and a toy chest. The shaker-style kitchen-diner is well equipped (full oven, five-ring convection hob with hotplate, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge-freezer) and opens to the dining area for easy socialising.
Upstairs are three bedrooms—one king, one double and one bunk room suitable for adults or children—decorated for a calm, airy feel. The original staircase is a charming period feature but is steep with reduced headroom. The first-floor family bathroom offers a mains shower over bath, large basin and WC.
Outside, an enclosed rear courtyard off the kitchen suits beach and hiking gear, with a further private garden beyond, including a patio and raised lawn that catches the evening sun. There is no private parking, but free on-street parking is available along the road.
Par station sits on the edge of the village on the main line to London Paddington, making arrivals easy by public transport.
Access information: one step up at the front door; internal stairs steeper than average with limited headroom; bathroom on the first floor; rear access via a gravel lane, pedestrian gate and several external steps.
Booking terms: no smoking; pets welcome; children of any age welcome; short breaks accepted.
