This property is part of our Cottages4you collection

In superb locations and beautiful settings. Cottages4you gives you a fantastic range of hand-picked properties with quality you can rely on.

Delightful bungalow with wood burner, ideal for Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal and Bradford on Avon canals, Gloucester easily accessible.

These delightful properties, converted into comfortable holiday cottages, stand in the grounds of the owners’ working farm (care needed with children) and equestrian centre (guests can bring own horse or pony by arrangement). The Granary (ref W43949) is a spacious barn and has been restored, taking care to use many of the original features and characteristics of its original life as a granary – the beams, the grain bag pulley system and other unknown objects have been put to good use. Both The Coach House (ref 15661) and Hog Pits (ref 18961) are all on one level and have a cosy woodburner. They all have an enclosed garden with lovely views over the countryside. The chickens and pigs are a delight to watch in their free range enclosures. This is the perfect holiday base from which to explore the many attractions Wiltshire has to offer – just 5 miles from the M4 yet in a completely rural setting. There are many footpaths and cycle routes in the surrounding area, with the Wiltshire and Berkshire canal towpaths also nearby. Within a short drive are the picturesque villages of Lacock and Castle Combe, both favourite locations for TV and film directors. Lacock features in Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice, and Castle Combe was the backdrop for War Horse. Chippenham is an old market town with good shopping facilities and Devizes is on the Kennet and Avon canal with the famous Caen locks. Bradford on Avon is often referred to as a ‘mini Bath’ with splendid Georgian architecture and a bustling community. The Roman spa city of Bath itself is a short drive and a must visit for a day out, with many famous sights to explore such as the museums, the abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Roman baths to name but a few. Bowood House has magnificent gardens and adventure playground, and the famous ancient sites and stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury are well worth a visit. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles. Properties 15661, 18961 and W43949 can be booked together to accommodate up to 15 guests.

Hogpits was a relaxing holiday cottage to stay in. It was cosy and warm and so quiet and peaceful, no traffic going past your door as you are on a farm. I enjoyed taking food scraps to the two goats most evenings. Hogpits is situated near Chippenham, and for the places we wanted to visit it was quite central. I would stay there again if I wanted to visit that area in the future.

This was our first time at this cottage and our first visit to Wiltshire. Although in the country the cottage was within easy reach of local amenities and had everything we needed after a day out cycling and visiting local attractions. Had a problem with the washing machine, the owners, (very friendly) attended straight away and fixed the problem immediately, what more can you ask ! Would certainly consider using this accommodation again.

Beautiful accomodation in a wonderful setting on a working arable farm with bonus pigs, chickens, horses sheep and goats. Very comfortable and well equipped converted farm buildings. Friendly owners on site should you need them I'm sure it would be great all year round although we went in the summer.

Loved hog pits. It's the best cottage we've ever rented and there have been a few. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone who wants a very quiet holiday. Hope to return in the not too distant future.
