This cottage is situated in the perfect location from which to explore the New Forest, which is only 3 miles away.

Conveniently located just 3 miles from the New Forest National Park, these two converted holiday cottages adjoin each other. The properties are opposite the popular village pub, The Compasses Inn, which is over 400 years old and provides a popular, historic meeting place/restaurant which serves fine food with a dining conservatory and a lovely garden. There is also direct access to the village green, where many cricket events are held, which is ideal for those with dogs as it has an enclosed space. Damerham is an ancient village steeped in history, its Norman church occupies a splendid hilltop site and is surrounded by fields. Damerham and Rockbourne fisheries are renowned for their chalk streams, ideal for trout fishing, and shooting, walking, cycling and horse riding are popular here too. The Heavy Horse Farm Park and Ancient Technology Centre at Cranborne are worthy of a visit. The cathedral city of Salisbury with leisure facilities, Cranborne Chase, The New Forest, Wilton House, Kingston Lacy (NT) and Southampton are all easily accessible. The popular beach resorts of Bournemouth and Poole are a 20-minute drive. Beach 15 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub opposite and restaurant 50 yards.

Good location for the New Forest. Bit of noise from the pub car park apart from that good basic accommodation.

We loved Damerham and the pub was fantastic and the food was delicious. We felt the staff went out of their way to help us especially as we have small children. The cottage was ok but unfortunately there had obviously been dogs staying in the downstairs room and to be honest there was a very doggy smell in the cottage and lots of dog hairs. It wasn’t a hugely significant issue but as we had paid north of £300 for a 3 night stay would have thought the rooms would have been cleaned adequately. There also wasn’t anywhere to put anything (hotels and guest houses NEVER have enough hooks and storage so perhaps unfair to highlight it with this place) On a more positive note the bedding and rest of the place was very nice and clean and as I have mentioned the staff were incredible. Would highly recommend to stay if you have a dog.

Lovely little cottage. Suited us perfectly. 1 adult, 1 14yr old & a dog. Great that the dog went free in the package & not an added tariff as is usual. Would say it could've done with a slightly "deeper" clean (behind units, under bed etc) - we didn't use the washing machine but the inside rim was very grubby & mouldy. Double bed upstairs was SO comfortable.

Located in grounds of compasses inn. Friendly staff amazing food and drinks. Cricket pitch next to cottage is great for walking the dogs or sitting at dusk with a drink from the inn and listen to the owls and watch the bats hunting. Damerham trout fishing is 2 minutes away with amazing fishing in a beautiful location. Obviously everything the new forest offers is near

4 nights with two dogs, stay was ok and accommodation was just right size for me. Wouldn't be enough room for a family. Only drawback was a there is a new house at the back and the builder who lives there is up every morning at 6am loading his truck. He tries to be quiet but if your a light sleeper your awake with him I'm afraid.

When i booked the cottage there was a bedroom down stairs which i expected as my wife is unable to climb stairs. A couple of days before we were due to leave i recieved an e mail telling me there was no bedroom down stairs only a pull out bed/setee which was very disappointing and spoilt the entire experience as sleeping then became a problem trying to get comfortable. I will not be booking this cottage again but will be looking for an alternative as i enjoy the New Forrest area
