More than 200 years old, this semi-detached barn conversion retains many original features and has been sympathetically and lovingly restored. Set in the grounds of the owners’ working farm, it is surrounded by 232 acres of natural, unspoilt farmland with views across to Roseberry Topping and the Cleveland Hill. The area is a walkers delight, with bridle paths and cycle tracks starting from the doorstep. This is a perfect location from which to explore the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Heritage Coast of Yorkshire. Great Ayton is just one and a half miles away, centred on the banks of the River Leven, it is a wonderful place for picnics and feeding the ducks, and the streets are lined with tea rooms and fascinating shops. Captain James Cook was born here and a visit to the museum is a must. Pop into the famous Suggits Ice Cream Shop and take a stroll along the river, or drive over the heather clad moors and visit The Moors National Park Centre and quaint little villages tucked away in the valleys.
The market town of Guisborough hosts two weekly markets and is home to the Ancient Priory Ruins, where the remains are regarded amongst the finest surviving examples of early Gothic architecture in England. The pretty Georgian town of Stokesley has a monthly farmers market and an agricultural show in September. Golfers can enjoy a driving range or a round of golf on the 9 hole course, or for the whole family there’s crazy golf, foot golf and The Pinchinthorpe Walkway Centre, a brilliant place for both children and adults.
Further afield you can discover Castleton, Rosedale, known for its Abbey, Lealhome, with its picnic areas along the river and Goathland, where the TV series ’Heartbeat’ was filmed. Aboard the steam train and take a memorable journey through the glorious Esk Valley. Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a traditional Victorian seaside resort with sandy beaches and quaint shops. Further along the coast there are the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay, then a little further again are Sandsend and the Ancient Sea Port of Whitby, all of which are within easy driving distance.
The Stable (CC231132) and The Byre (CC231133) can be booked together to accommodate up to 10 guests.

Very helpful friendly and amenable hosts. Great welcome pack and a lovely property , ideal for anyone with limited ability. The location was ideal for us with lovely views. New born lambs in the field and swans on the pond were the icing on the cake.

We went as a family group from the UK and Germany to attend a 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration, so this was for a special occasion rather than a holiday. The cottages were perfect for our needs, as they gave us the space we needed very close to the venue and parents/grandparents/great grandparents. For us, this helped to make the whole event perfect.

Wonderful accommodation with excellent facilities. Couldn't wish for more. Certainly ticks all the boxes. We had a great time and can't wait to go back with the rest of the family.

Friendly, welcoming owners who also help run the working farm. Great location in open countryside with plenty of scope for walks in the country air. Highly recommended.

We could not fault our stay at the Byre at all and what a lovely welcome we received from Andrea and Phil despite our arrival being late. We have never received such a comprehensive 'welcome pack' either of which we were so very grateful; it really had been very well thought out, even down to the facial wipes! The accommodation is fantastic, it is very well kitted out and it has everything that anyone could wish for; it really is of a very high standard and so very comfortable. What was really lovely is Andrea and Phil are there for you should you need any advice or information but they are not intrusive in any way - they really are the perfect owners. This holiday was for our respective Mum's (aged 87 and 85) who both have limited mobility and the barn worked perfectly. You'll be hard pressed to find better. We definitely intend to return and we cannot recommend both properties highly enough. The weather was so kind to us which was an absolute bonus but there is so much to do in this part of the country, come rain or shine. Many thanks Andrea and Phil for the most fabulous week and for making our stay so welcoming.

From the minute I was met by our landlady I knew that I had made the right choice for our family holiday. The Byre was a beautifully designed and appropriate conversion, immaculately presented and equipped, even down to the ice cubes in the freezer!! The farmer and his family were there if we needed them but not intrusive. I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending The Byre, the only thing I would mention is if you have small children, the courtyard is the only outdoor space so they will need to be supervised.
